Fans have enjoyed the first two seasons of the mystery-suspense drama 30 Coins. But of course, three is the magic number, and attention is turning to the possibility of Season 3. The show first made its mark when it dropped on HBO Europe on November 19, 2020, and the second run of episodes arrived on October 23, 2023. That’s a long wait between seasons, and we can only hope that the release date of the third season, if renewed, will be sooner rather than later.

Will there be a 30 Coins Season 3?

Official Renewal Status: TBC

At the time of writing, there has been no official confirmation of a third season of the show.

However, don’t despair too much, as it is still early days for the second season, and the pertinent information that is required before green-lighting another set of episodes is still being gathered and assessed.

It is worth noting that there was a three-year gap between the first and second seasons. The COVID-19 pandemic could have put the brakes on the production of the second season, but it is more likely that the show was held up due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Other reports also suggested that there was some delay in finalizing the contract terms for actor Paul Giamatti, who played Christian Barbow in the second season.

With all that to contend with, we hope that if there is another run, it will appear much quicker than Season 2 did.

30 Coins Season 3 Potential Release Date

Since a third season has not been greenlit, there is no official release date for it. However, we can — and perhaps should — indulge in some healthy speculation.

30 Coins Season 2 was announced on February 11 2022 and dropped in October 2023, so if we follow that schedule, if the third season is announced at the end of this year, it could be early 2025 before we get to watch a third season.

How did 30 Coins Season 2 perform?

According to FlixPatrol, the second season of 30 Coins is outperforming the first by quite a margin, debuting at No. 1 in both the non-English and worldwide HBO charts.

This kind of global appeal can’t be overstated when it comes to upping a show’s renewal chances. Since HBO is an American platform worldwide success helps to sustain profitable relationships with overseas distribution partners, increasing sign-ups all over the place. Money talks, after all.

30 Coins Season 2 doesn’t have enough reviews to have formed a Rotten Tomatoes aggregate score yet, but the three posted reviews are all fresh, and the audience score sits at an impressive 82%. It’s also worth noting that Season 1 of the show boasts a 91% Tomatometer score, so it’s a very popular series with critics and audiences alike.

Horror TV also seems to be in vogue right now. Shows like The Fall of the House of Usher and From have done reasonably well, but 30 Coins is a different kind of horror show that is almost more like a Buffy-style series, but admittedly much more disturbing and adult in tone.

If the show has captured the imaginations of fans, and the numbers look good, there may well be more over-the-top Lovecraftian horror adventure stories still to emerge from the property. We’ll be sure to update this article with any new information as soon as we get it.
