Netflix‘s romantic crime thriller Locked In, directed by Nour Wazzi and written by Rowan Joffe, is a tense and complex look at the characters involved in a twisted story of revenge. With the feature starring Famke Janssen of X-Men fame, Rose Williams playing Lina, and Peaky Blinders star Finn Cole also on board, it looks as if the movie is in safe hands, however, there is still one aspect of Locked In‘s production that we can take a look at — namely, the filming locations used to bring this star-studded thriller to life.

Where was Locked In Filmed?

Locked In did not require any international departures to film this project, since it was filmed (and is set) entirely in the UK. Everything the crew needed to set the tone for the movie was easily accessible in the UK, with prudent use of a couple more specific locations.

Most of the location work would take place in the UK’s iconic capital, and for this type of psychological drama, there was no problem finding the different sites used for filming.

With plenty of studio space also available, filming would commence as planned, and although specific locations were difficult to pin down, it is safe to say London was where the majority of filming occurred. There was, however, one other location we spotted where a lot of the film was also recorded.

St Albans, Hertfordshire

One obvious location that was easy to spot was the cathedral in St Albans. The film crew was spotted on January 25th, setting up for location work on St Peter’s Street. A fair amount of Locked In‘s production took place in and around St. Albans.

A news report in the Herts Advertiser would state that location work was also done at Market Place. This area was also used for the upcoming Wonka movie, and there are plenty of images available of the filming done in the location.

The Herts Advertiser also featured shots of equipment in position at Boot Alley, and parking suspensions were in place to allow the filming to take place uninterrupted.

The cathedral was also closed to the public as filming took place, with worship being moved temporarily to the Chapel of Transfiguration at the East end.

Who produced Locked In on Netflix?

Locked In was produced by Gaumont, a now international film and TV production company with an incredible track record, in partnership with Neon Films. The principal photography for the film would start in December 2022, when the cast was also revealed.

It was reported that the filming would continue into 2023, ending in late February of that year.

Alison Jackson is credited as an executive producer on Locked In, and Nicky Bentham is named as a producer. She had previously worked on projects including Moon, The Duke, and Who Killed the KLF.
