Summary
“Chapter 5: Crypt” moves some pieces along but continues to show cracks because of spotty flashbacks and uneven storylines.
Darby finally confronts Andy about the many allegations she is ready to throw at him in Episode 5 of A Murder at the End of the World. With Darby struggling to connect the dots on all the murders, she gets help from an unlikely person who helps get her closer and closer to finding out who killed Bill.
While this episode has a little more forward momentum, uneven storytelling and spotty flashbacks continue to prevent the murder mystery plot from really developing traction.
A Murder at the End of the World Season 1 Episode 5 Recap
Darby confronts the medic about the stolen morphine, and Eva admits to her that it was stolen from the medical room. Furthermore, the hack that killed Rohan was taken from there, leading to Darby storming to confront Andy.
What secrets does Andy reveal to Darby?
After Darby accuses Andy of several daunting things, including being Zoomer’s father, he says none are true. The first secret he reveals is he is sterile, meaning he couldn’t be his father. The second secret is that Eva has been giving him treatments to extend his life.
Andy begins to show Darby footage from the resort but explains it doesn’t show bedrooms and stops recording at 11:59, which was the same time that Bill was murdered. After the duo looks further into the footage, they notice that David could be the person who killed him after several time stamps reveal he was close by. Bill refuted the claims with backup that he didn’t do it.
Next, Andy and Darby interviewed Lu, who had an alibi. She was honest about how she tried to hack the hotel’s software to contact her security team but was unsuccessful.
Why is Andy angry?
When Darby wants to interview Lee, Andy says no, and when their investigation is about to continue, one of Andy’s men interrupts them, stating the Wall Street Journal has found out about the deaths and wants to interview him. He is pissed as someone leaked the news to the press.

Darby steps outside to get the food the butler left her, and she gets attacked. The person holds a phone to her head, and the voice says, “There is no end to this labyrinth. If you reach the center, you will not get Bill back. I don’t want to take another life, and do not force my hand.”
Who dies in “Chapter 5: Crypt”?
Darby heads to visit Sian, who is struggling but awake enough to talk to her about what is happening. She apologized to Sian about what happened and spoke about the break-in. Sian talked about how Andy might love Zoomer, but she doesn’t think Lee does. She explains further that Zoomer makes hundreds of thousands of dollars daily because of a trust fund and has access to it. Out of nowhere, Sian flatlines and dies.
How does A Murder at the End of the World Episode 5 end?
After Sian’s passing, Darby confronts Andy saying she believes that Lee is responsible for the murder. Again, he isn’t willing to hear what she says. As this happens, Lu, Ziba, Martin, and Oliver are having a bonfire, and although they are asked to come in, they continue. Ziba comes up with the idea to honor the dead, and Andy doesn’t mention Bill, opening the door for Darby to think he might still be alive.
After yet another flashback, present-day Darby goes for a swim, but when she goes to come up the pool cover has been pulled over leaving her stuck in the water as the episode ends.
