The Buccaneers Season 1 Episode 7 Recap
It’s New Year’s, and Theo and Nan show up to the party, where everyone is beginning to talk about how shocked they are that Theo is still marrying Nan after being a “bastard” child. She decides to storm off to find her friends to get away from the chatter.
Conchita and Lizzy come to Nan’s rescue to comfort her as she struggles to be among the crowd. When they get out of the bathroom, Nan runs into Jinny, and she quickly becomes upset again.
Who arrives at the New Year’s party?
Colonel and Mrs. St. George (Jinny and Nan’s parents) arrive at the party, much to the surprise of everyone because they weren’t set to come to England until the following week.
Jinny sees her parents arrive and jumps at the chance to talk to them. She informs them she exposed the truth but says it wasn’t harmful because Theo has agreed to marry Nan anyway. However, Mrs. St. George says that she purposefully hurt her sister and doesn’t understand why she would do it.
The Dowager Duchess of Tintagel discusses that it shocks her that Mrs. St. George would show up to the party with all the chatter about her. Before she can say anything back, Theo interrupts to ask Mrs. St. George to dance. He explains that not only is he going to marry her daughter, but he is in love with her.
Who breaks up in “First Footing?”
Mrs. St. George has begun to realize that, stuck in all of the madness of her life, she has sucked up and taken a lot from her husband. She informs Colonel St. George that she will divorce him after the wedding.
Guy and Nan share a moment on the roof, and when they return downstairs, they run into Theo, who asks Guy for a moment to talk about the wedding. Theo reveals he knew about the telegram and says Guy needs to get over the fact that she chose him. Guy asks, “Did she?” leading to the two getting into a massive fight.
This leads to Theo, Guy, and Nan entering a room to discuss what is happening. Guy reveals that Theo knew about the telegram but hid it from them. Theo forces Guy to go into detail about what the telegram said, so he does. Nan confronts Theo about knowing about her mother and not saying anything and storms off.
How does The Buccaneers Season 1 Episode 7 end?
Outside, Theo chases Nan to apologize, but he wants to explain that it wasn’t his secret to tell. Theo asks if she is in love with Guy, but says this isn’t about him or Theo, but about her.
Nan sits down with Guy to discuss whether he meant what he said in the telegram. He said he meant every word then but moved on because Nan chose Theo. He told her he asked Lady Hopeleigh to marry him, further explaining that they both needed to move on.
