Summary

Despite the season’s end drawing closer, Dr. Stone keeps the story interesting with new developments and doesn’t miss a beat setting up the next big arc.

Now that Ibara has been defeated, Senku can spend Episode 20 of Dr. Stone Season 3 focusing on what really matters – reviving the Perseus Crew. The question is, how much fluid does he have, and is it enough to save everyone at once? With only a few episodes left in the season, seeing how Senku chooses to navigate their situation will be interesting.

Where most shows often fizzle once their big bad for the season is defeated, Dr. Stone is one of those series that manages to keep its momentum strong even when there isn’t a lot of action to follow.

Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 20 Recap

The episode opens with Senku reviving Chrome first. Together, they begin making more fluid and planning to piece together their friends before deciding to revive Amaryllis next. They then revive Taiju and Francois soon after.

When the communication device begins creating static noises, Senku informs the others that its battery is likely dead, as it cut out when he was talking to Ruri. Chrome wonders why Ruri would call to check in randomly if nothing is wrong back in the village. They consider attempting to contact the village via the Perseus but find their communication room and equipment has been destroyed.

Knowing it will take several weeks to repair everything in the ship, the group revives the remaining Perseus crew members. While diving for Yo’s body, Taiju rescues Kirisame as well. They wonder if they should revive an enemy, but Senku does it anyway.

Senku revives Ginro next, whose near-fatal wounds are healed by the revival fluid. As the group celebrates everyone’s revival, Senku contacts Ruri and the village again.

Whose voice does Senku hear when he calls Ishigami Village back?

When Senku finally manages to call Ishigami Village back, he hears his own voice trying to communicate with them. As he speaks more, they realize Why-man is using Senku’s voice to attempt to activate the Medusa and petrify the entire Earth yet again.

Ukyo later determines the voice is synthetic as it repeatedly attempts the same phrase in regular intervals. It leads them to wonder how the Medusa ended up on this island in the first place and how the Why-man is attached to its history.

Taiju rescues an ancient islander from the sea floor who bears a mark on his arm similar to the design of the Medusa. After saving mistakes Ginro for his old master, the man introduces himself as Matsukaze.

How does Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 20 end?

Ginro asks Matsukaze to tell them what he knows about the Medusa, and he tells them the story of thousands of devices raining down from the sky when he was a child. Using this new information, Senku immediately retrieves their old antenna to try to trace sound waves from Why-man.

While tracing the call, they learn the Why-man is actually located above them on the moon. Senku declares that getting there will be their next goal.

Episode 20 did a great job of bringing viewers back to the Why-man storyline while very clearly setting up the next few major arcs for the anime. The episode was everything from sentimental to surprising, which should excite viewers for the rest of the season, as it seems Dr. Stone does not plan on slowing down any time soon.
