My Life with the Walter Boys follows the story of Jackie, who loses her family in a terrible accident and is forced to leave her beloved New York to go to live with her mother’s best friend in Colorado. While there, she has to cope with the trauma and grief of losing her family, while becoming part of a new family. Alberta is one of thirteen territories in Canada and is one of only two landlocked provinces in the area. Renowned for its beautiful landscapes and scenery, the area houses six UNESCO-designated World Heritage Sites. Most of the series would be filmed here, doubling easily for Colorado, with the production team choosing to film here for its wide range of locations, and of course, financially it makes sense.

Calgary has grown steadily in the film and TV industry and has adapted to the demand for film and TV companies wanting to shoot there. The number of sound stages in the area has increased from 50,000 square feet to 500,000 in a matter of six months, all to provide production companies with the space they need for their projects.

Much of the filming would take place in and around Calgary, and in some of the establishing shots of the show you can see some landmarks familiar to the area, including The Calgary Tower and The Olympic Plaza. Girletz Rodeo Ranch, Calgary
An article in The Calgary Herald would reveal that scenes were filmed at The Girletz Rodeo Ranch. The area was used to film the rodeo scene and required actors Noah Lalonde and Ashby Gentry to ride a horse. The article also reveals that filming was done in the towns of Crossfield and Cochrane. Interiors were shot at the Rocky Mountain Film Studio in Calgary in the summer of 2022.
Who produced and created My Life with the Walter Boys?
The producers on the show were Ed Glauser and Melanie Halsall. Melanie was also behind the show’s development and played a huge part in bringing the story to TV audiences.
