A Murder at the End of the World Season 2 Renewal Status
A Murder at the End of the World

Despite always being billed as a limited series, there might be potential for A Murder at the End of the World Season 2 depending on how well the show’s finale performs on Hulu. Creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij certainly have an appetite for more stories in the universe.

Has A Murder at the End of the World been renewed for Season 2?

Official Renewal Status: TBC

A Murder at the End of the World is yet to be renewed for a second season.

A Murder at the End of the World was planned to be a limited series from the beginning of its creation. That said, in several interviews post-strike, creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, known for the many twists and turns in their Netflix series The OA, have expressed the desire to do more with the show.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s star, Emma Corrin, who plays Darby, expressed an interest in returning to the character:

“I would always love to play Darby again. She’s the most intriguing character to play, and I grew so much as an actor,” Corrin says. “That is not to say there will be [more]; I haven’t heard anything. But I would love to [play her again], obviously.”

One idea that could be possible for FX is to create a Benoit Blanc-style universe for Darby Hart. After solving this case, we could see the rise of the character’s reputation, and other people have her come in to solve cases. They could easily make a Darby Hart detective universe if done right.

I’m going to predict that A Murder at the End of the World will be renewed for a second season, but we’ll keep this article updated with any new information as and when we get it.

How has A Murder at the End of the World Season 1 performed?

A Murder at the End of the World has kept viewers on the edge of their seats throughout season one, resulting in the limited series getting rave reviews from critics and audiences. It sits at a massive 94% on the Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes with over 1000+ reviews. With critics, it sits at 89%, ranking within the top 50 highest-rated shows of the year on the aggregate.

It will be interesting to see the viewership numbers in a few weeks, but FX and Hulu have to be happy with these numbers and maybe even explore the idea of seeing Darby solve more cases in future seasons.

The only potential downside in all this is that the season finale has received some mixed reviews among fans and critics on X, formerly Twitter, and with a show’s conclusion being so important to its overall reception — as implied in the Tweet below — that might hurt the word of mouth around A Murder at the End of the World in the future.
