Summary

Death and Other Details takes a slight step back after a roaring start to develop the mystery. Patinkin and Beane continue to delight in the lead roles.

It is time for Rufus and Imogene to start investigating who and why Keith was murdered in Episode 2 of Death and Other Details Season 1. Rufus begins to question everyone on the ship, and it becomes a pissing contest among the guests. While he does that, Imogene figures out more about her mother’s murder, giving her more motive to find the killer. After Episode 1, this feels like a slight step back in quality and pace.

Why does Rufus think Imogene’s mother was murdered?

Rufus is replaying the moments when Keith talked him into going on the cruise. Keith reveals that Victor Sams will be on the cruise. Rufus reveals Sam’s alias for an international syndicate that profits from corporate blackmail. If his targets don’t pay, he sends everyone a message. Lawrence Collier kept his books under lock and key, but Rufus believes his dealings are behind why Imogene’s mother was killed.

Imogene heads to talk to Lawrence, but Jules is waiting outside his door. He informs her that Lawrence isn’t taking any visitors, and although she tries to push him, he says he doesn’t appreciate what she did (stealing his codes, erasing the video footage, etc.). She claims what they shared was real, and he isn’t sure he believes her.

What does Rufus want Imogene to steal?

Rufus doesn’t have a great relationship with the Colliers, and Imogene does, so he wants her to use that relationship to figure out a way to get access to their books.

Rufus speaks to Leila about the confrontation between her and Keith. He begins to unpack her story, informing her that he knew about the fight, and questions whether she had a suspicion that Keith had caused her to run off the road. Although she doesn’t deny it, Leila says he is wasting his time talking to her.

Where was the bar cart ordered from?

Throughout his questioning of the crew on the ship, one of the housekeepers reveals that the bar cart ordered the night of Keith’s murder was ordered from suite number 541, which belongs to Tripp Collier. However, the lady reveals that a woman ordered it from that room.

Sunil comes to talk to Imogene and Rufus about what he has overheard throughout the day. He informs them that Interpol has called, and their best man is en route. Further, he tells them that on the night of Keith’s death, he tried to break into his office.

How does Death and Other Details Season 1 Episode 2 end? Who ordered the bar cart?

Rufus reveals he figured out that Governor Alexander and Tripp Collier were having an affair. She was the person who called the bar cart to Keith’s room that night. Moments later, we see the Governor confront Tripp and tell her that their affair is over.

Eleanor Chun visits Anna to inform her that her grandmother is spooked by the murder and they will be leaving the ship in the morning. She also tells her that the deal is off, and Anna tries to convince her to stay, but Eleanor says there is nothing she can do.
