Death and Other Details continues to have a million things going on at once without fully developing one of them. It leaves you wanting more answers to questions that don’t add up.
With the entire ship searching for Jules, Imogene discovers his real motives for being on the ship in Death and Other Details Episode 4. Agent Hilde Eriksen is on a manhunt, and she tells security not to stop turning over the ship until Jules is found. As this happens, Imogene finds someone who might have some information about the murder of Keith Trubitsy. As with the rest of Season 1 thus far, it’s more going on than the show is willing to provide answers to at this stage, making the experience frustrating.
How did Jules and Sunil meet?
Sunil was on the phone in an alley when a group of men attempted to rob him of his phone. Moments later, Jules walked up and saved Sunil, leading to them having a drink together. We discover this was one big elaborate ploy to get Jules in Sunil’s good graces on the ship.
Anna is talking to Eleanor Chun and asks who she thinks the murderer is. This leads to us getting a flashback of the night of the murder, where Anna is questioning Leila’s whereabouts because she left in the middle of the night. After some back and forth, the two of them sleep together.
What is Jules wanted for?
Agent Eriksen meets with the security team on the ship. She announces that Jules, who has various aliases, is not who they thought he was. He is wanted in three countries for robbery, assault, and wire fraud, and she wants them to turn over the ship and find him right now.
Jules ties Imogene up underground. She asks him where Anna went because she followed him down there, but he says he doesn’t know who that is. Of course, Jules reminds her that he didn’t kill Keith because he was in bed with her. Since he protected her, she promises to return the favor.
What is Jules really doing on the ship?
Death and Other Details Episode 4 reveals what Jules is really doing on the ship. After Jules unties Imogene, he takes her below the ship to show her what he is doing on the boat. She walks in and sees refugees that Jules is sneaking out of Ukraine. He promises that he will bring them to people, and he has been doing this for a long time.
Imogene believes that she has someone that can help their case. After agreeing to help Jules, she brings Rufus down to talk to Yeva, one of the refugees who might have seen something go down the night of the murder. She tells Rufus that she heard a man screaming followed by a loud noise, and then it was quiet. Although startled by the noise, Yeva saw a woman with black and gold heels through the vent.
Who did Yeva see the night of the murder?
Yeva broke down when she saw the black and gold heels through the vent, and Rufus and Imogene thanked her for her time. When they go outside, they look down at Teddy’s feet and suggest a problem with her alibi. Rufus tells Teddy that they need to sit down and talk about the night of Keith’s murder.
How does Death and Other Details Season 1 Episode 4 end?
Teddy reveals that Yeva got the room wrong because she wasn’t in Keith’s room the night of his murder. Instead, she was with a client because she is a dominatrix. Although she didn’t reveal who she was with, Rufus called out it was Llewellyn Mathers because he saw the marks on his wrists.
Teddy agrees to work with Rufus and Imogene to take the fall for the murder of Keith. So Rufus announces to the whole ship that they have caught the killer and it is Teddy, but her sister Winnie perks up and runs to confess to the crime. As she confesses, security says they might have found stowaways on the ship, and Agent Eriksen runs to find them.
With security hot on their trail, Jules is forced to cause a distraction to allow the refugees to get away. This leads to his arrest by Agent Eriksen, but his plan works as the refugees get on a boat and get out of Dodge.
Governor Alexander is in her room when she gets an email, and when she opens it, it is photos of her and Tripp Collier together partying and having sex. Below deck, we see Rufus searching the boat, and someone comes out of hiding — Leila.
