The robbery that inspired the series took place in August of 2014 and would result in Kevin Holguín Sepúlveda — the inspiration for Kevin Tapia — and his girlfriend taking off and heading for Europe in a plan to avoid the authorities. However, Kevin would go on to post several images of himself on social media platforms as he enjoyed the high life, and he would be arrested in Spain in 2016.
After being apprehended, he would be extradited to Chile and was released before sentencing. That sentence would eventually be imposed, and Kevin would receive four years in jail, but he would choose to instead take off on the run again, launching another manhunt that would conclude in 2018, with Kevin being found in a commune.
Unfortunately, it seems that the criminal lure is always with Kevin, and after his release, he would be the subject of interest again, this time for a robbery involving a truck carrying cigarettes from the Chiletabacos company in Quinta Normal.
