The Silent Service Season One – The Battle of Tokyo Bay Episode 4 Recap

We pick up right where we left off in Episode 3, with one of the 7th Fleet going to battle with the Seabat. Although they initially trapped the Seabat, Kaieda gets the upper hand and takes the ship completely out.

Who is making a deal with Captain Kaieda?

After taking the ship out, Fukamachi calls Kaieda to tell him how disappointed he is in him. Kaieda explains that they were attacked, and he has a plan to get the job they needed done. Then he tells him that they are headed north to sign a military alliance with a certain country, Japan. He tells him to run the world, first they must operate Japan.

Amid the chaos, newscaster Hiromi Ichiya asks around about why a special report on the Yamanami’s collision was killed. One of the men explains that the higher-ups killed the story because they didn’t think it would get the numbers. She pushes back, saying maybe there is something more behind the incident and plans to look into it.

The Chief Cabinet Secretary Wataru Unabara heads to speak to his father about his next course of action. His father explains that they had built up the country for so long, and now Kaieda has come along to ruin everything. Wataru plans to speak with Kaieda, and his father says it would be terrible. He wants his father to step aside and give the blessing.

Will the Prime Minister work with Captain Kaieda?

As the Prime Minister is set to work with the US again, Secretary Wataru raises the question about working with Kaieda. Although initially hesitant, Wataru pursues the matter further, saying they’ve bent the knee too many times. Ultimately, the Prime Minister concludes that they will work to protect the Seabat.

The Prime Minister and President Bennett are ready to sit down and discuss their plan to work together. The idea is to get the Seabat to shoot first so that they can go on the defense. However, Kaieda has other plans unfolding in the seas as they speak.
