Through My Window 3: Looking At You is the third and final movie in the trilogy of Spanish romances streaming on Netflix, and it brings the turbulent and slightly creepy love story of Raquel and Ares to a definitive close. Despite the popularity of these movies, the story is now complete, and Through My Window 4 will not be happening, despite the popularity of the movies.
Through My Window 4 Is Not Going To Happen
All good things must come to an end, and this particular franchise has concluded. The first film was based on the Wattpad book Through My Window by Ariana Godoy, and the success of the first outing led to the second and third films being greenlit, produced, and released very quickly.
However, as above, the story has reached its conclusion now, and there is no need to continue it with subsequent movies. This is in line with the novels and indeed the arcs of the characters, at least to the extent that one can say the characters in these movies actually have meaningful arcs to speak of.
How many books are there?
There are three books available in the Through My Window series, and this is another major tell that there will not be a fourth film. Had there been more books in the series, it may have been tempting for the filmmakers to continue, but with the source material concluding, it makes sense that the films would finish too.
How does Through My Window 3 end?
You can read all about the trilogy’s climax in our in-depth ending explained article, but for ease and convenience, here’s a summary.
Throughout Looking At You, Ares and Raquel both realize that they are meant to be together despite beginning the movie with different partners. Raquel breaks up with Gregory, and Ares tries to convince Vera to part ways with him, however, she’s unwilling to do so because of her father. Their families are on the cusp of a major business deal that seems to be contingent on Ares and Vera staying together, which makes it difficult for Ares and Raquel to flourish.
At the end of the movie, Anna, who still blames Raquel for Yoshi’s death, spikes her drink, leading to her becoming trapped in the house of her publisher. Thus, she misses a romantic graveyard rendezvous with Ares, and he decides to return to Stockholm. On the way to the airport, though, he gives Raquel one last call, and can tell from her unintelligible babbling that she’s in danger. He races to the publisher’s house just in time to drag Raquel from the swimming pool she falls into, but Ares’s chlorine allergy almost kills him.
Both Raquel and Ares survive and end up together, though. The film’s closing scenes take place five years later, when they have just moved in together.
Are the books different from the films?
The main difference in the books is the extent of the characterization of the leads, and the books focus more on the Hidalgo brothers, fleshing them out, and making them more three-dimensional. However, the films do stick quite closely to the structure of the books, with similar endings.
The third film also provides a little more flesh for the Hidalgo brothers and resolves their personal subplots too. Artemis finally puts Claudia above his father, leaving a New Year’s dinner to be there for her in the hospital, and eventually, Claudia is accepted into the family. Things don’t go quite as well for Apolo, though, whose fling Victor leaves him for an ex for basically no reason at all.
What is next for the book’s author?
The writer of the books Ariana Godoy, has moved on to other projects, cementing the idea that this particular story has ended, and we should not expect any more movies. Her web novel Sigue Mi Voz is currently being looked at to be adapted into another film, so this could be the start of another franchise.
