The Essex Gang is attempting to make a name for themselves in Episode 2 of The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin. Dick’s attempt to fit in does more harm than good. With one gang member threatening to leave and the other taken hostage by a Coach, Dick must work to save his team before they completely fall apart. Season 1 continues to be a stupid yet fun ride.
After Dick’s failed attempt at his first robbery in Episode 1, his crew of misfits decide to take things into their own hands. We see them take charge and get aggressive with the next opportunity, which makes Dick realize how terrible robbing people can be. Because of how it went down, Dick wants to begin to try some razzle-dazzle with their robbings instead of the aggressive approach.
Dick and the gang head to Highway Night, where they will mix and mingle with potential people they can rob. Upon walking in, they inform Dick of the other gangs inside, who are the Grayson Gang, Pipe Dreamers, and Dreaded Perms. Dick runs into Eliza, the writer, who informs him that his readers talked about his escape, and he loves the idea of becoming famous.
Where does the Essex Gang rank on the Highwayman Charts?
As the crew sits down, Dick asks about the Highwayman Charts on the wall. It’s explained that they tally up all the gang’s stolen loot, kill count, and scare factor and rank them from best gang to worst. Dick asks where they rank, and they are 49th out of 50. The only team below them is the Dooberry brothers, with the Hellhounds in first place.
The leader of the Hellhounds, Lezza, comes over to the table and wonders why Nell is working for the group. The group says that Dick killed Tom King, but Lezza doesn’t believe that Tom King would get killed by someone like Dick. He tells Nell to come and see him, and she can work for them.
In his rambling, Dick bites off more than he can chew, with Lezza challenging him to rob the Unrobbable Coach. The coach rides every night at midnight, and Dick says he and the Essex Gang are up for the challenge.
What happens when you touch the emerald on the Unrobbable Coach?
The Essex Gang waited outside at midnight to take the emerald off the Unrobbable Coach. However, when Moose touches the emerald, it snags him and puts him in the driver’s seat. A lady says she has been driving the coach for forty years, and if you touch the emerald, you become the driver.
The gang returns, and Lezza informs him that he has been setting them up the entire time. As a result, the Essex Gang is now ranked 50th, and Lezza has convinced Nell to join the Hellhound Gang.
Dick and Honesty head to find someone to get Moose out of the seat on the Unrobbable Coach. The coach comes back around, and as Dick is about to try to pick up the emerald with gloves on, Lezza stops him. Lezza grabs the emerald and finds himself in the front seat of the coach, freeing Moose. As a result, the Essex Gang has moved up to 19 on the Highwayman Charts.
