Summary
The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin continues to be an absolute delight each week. Jessica Hynes was pretty great as The Reddlehag.
The Essex Gang is forced to formulate a plan to save Dick Turpin after he has a run-in with the Reddlehag in Episode 4 of The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin. Dick Turpin tries to befriend the Reddlehag, which leads to him being put in a situation that he can’t get himself out of. In a race against time, Moose, Nell, and Honesty must devise a plan to save Turpin before it’s too late, in another delightful episode of Season 1.
Who is The Reddlehag in Episode 4?
The Essex Gang are on their next job as they prepare to rob the next stagecoach. Geoffrey pulls up, and as the crew tells him to give them the goods, he says they don’t want it because it is the Reddlehag. She is an evil witch who sucks men’s and women’s souls. Of course, Dick doesn’t believe in witches and possibly wants to help her, but when he opens the coach, he realizes she really is a witch.
With Dick unleashing the Reddlehag, the Essex Gang head to inform the city that she is on the loose. Everyone in the town is terrified, and the crew shacks up with Little Karen and her pub. They find out she won’t show up if they don’t say Reddlehag 27 times. The entire pub can’t stop saying it, and she appears.
What happens to Dick Turpin?
Turpin attempts to converse with Reddlehag by talking her out of taking their souls and having a beer instead. When she takes a sip of the beer, Reddlehag freaks out and turns Turpin into a chicken. Moose knocks Reddlehag over the head, and they tie her up and tell her to turn Dick back into a human, or she will die.
Moose and Honesty get Craig the Warlock to help them take on the Reddlehag and bring Turpin back into a human. While Craig attempts to figure out how he will defeat the Reddlehag, Nell is trying to fend off the city from killing the Reddlehag. The city puts the Reddlehag on trial, and Nell ends up being her defense attorney to delay time until they can get back to save Dick. Things go wrong when she loses the case, and they decide to burn both of them.
How does The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin Episode 4 end?
Finally, Dick Turpin is turned back to normal and tries to inform the city that if they burn the Reddlehag, she will only become strong. Nobody believes him, and they put Turpin next to Reddlehag and Nell and will burn them all. The firing begins, leaving Moose and Honesty to push Craig the Warlock to save Nell and Turpin before they are burnt alive.
What happens to the Reddlehag?
The Reddlehag escapes from being tied up and is about to wreak havoc, but Craig the Warlock shows up with a potion to save the day. He throws the potion on the fire, which turns blue and shrinks the Reddlehag, and they are able to capture her.
The fourth episode also ends with a tribute to the late boom operator David Thacker, who sadly passed away during the production.
