Summary

If Constellation‘s writers aimed to make an insane episode that kept you befuddled, this is a five-star outing.

Jo has been pushed to her breaking point trying to uncover the truth in Episode 7 of ConstellationWith us being one episode away from the finale, the penultimate outing of Season 1 explores both sides of Jo and Alice’s relationship and how they are trying to intertwine the stories to connect the final dots.

The episode picks up right where we left off in Episode 6 with Alice looking out the window and seeing Jo. It’s Jo with Alice in her car, and Jo thinks she can hear her but doesn’t see her.

We get a montage of Jo being outside, hearing Alice, and beginning to look for her while Alice is looking for her but cannot find her. As Alice enters the cabin, she stumbles into the closet she likes to hide in but finds herself trapped. Finally, the two unite, and we see Jo putting her in the bathtub, which we saw earlier in the season.

Things shift back to where we left off, with Jo and Alice listening to the tapes in the cabin. Alice wonders who Jo is talking to on the spaceship. Alice says she doesn’t speak Swedish and knows it wasn’t her on the tape.

What is on the tape from the day after the accident?

Alice finds a tape in the bag from 2021, the day of the accident. When Alice presses play, we hear Paul asking Houston about the protocols for dealing with a dead body. He mentions that Jo is lacerated, but Jo cuts the tape off, saying they don’t need to listen.

Magnus storms into the room and sees Alice outside the tub. She says she heard and saw her mom. He attempts to explain that there is no way she saw her (because she was dead). A little later that night, she storms out of the cabin again, and Magnus notices she is gone.

What does Jo hear on the tape?

Alice finds the “other cabin,” where she finds the tape player on the table, and heads into the closet and tries to talk to Alice. She hits the recorder, saying, “Alice, can you hear me? Say something.” Both variations of Alice begin to speak to one another. The two are talking over the recording, and Jo finds the tape player and is playing it while she drives and hears Alice say, “She said my mother is dead.” This freaks out Jo, and she is unsure what to do.

Jo walks in on Alice talking to Alice — Mamma has arrived. Alice asks to speak to her and says she has to talk through her. They tell each other they love one another, and Jo tries to see her in the mirror as Alice can, but she says no.

Frederick, Magnus, and Henry are on their way to the cabin to get to Jo and get his Data Core. However, along the way, there is a roadblock as a pile of snow is blocking the intersection. They finally get over it, and Henry begins to have a reaction to the environment from something in the cabin.

Who shoots Paul?

We get a montage of Henry walking in the woods to find the cabin and being back home trying to put it back together. Henry arrives at the cabin, where Jo hands Alice to him and says she is returning to find her daughter. However, at home, we see Henry shoot Paul without realizing it, and he falls to the ground.

How does Constellation Season 1 Episode 7 end?

As this happens, Jo runs outside to Alice and begins trying to bring her back to life. However, the other Alice walks outside and tells her she can’t hear her anymore and thinks she’s dead. At the same time, we get both variations of Magnus walking up on Alice (with Jo and without). He brings one back to the cabin while the other is him trying to save Alice with Jo being taken in by police.

Alice awakens in the hospital to her father, Magnus, who informs her that Jo has gone away with Irene Lysenko to get help.
