After discovering her husband was set to marry someone she has befriended in the city, Maxine will seek answers to the many questions that will come with this secret. I share some thoughts on what we might expect in the upcoming episodes.
What will Palm Royale Episode 5 be about?
Episode 5, titled “Maxine Shakes the Tree,” will follow Maxine as she tries to unpack the news that Douglas was set to marry Linda. Linda and the Women’s Circle will grapple with the idea of threatening the Palm Beach social order.
How will Maxine handle the wedding invitation?
At the end of Palm Royale Episode 4, Maxine opened Norma’s safe deposit box but couldn’t find the Rolodex. Instead, she found a wedding invitation from the day Penelope (Linda) was set to marry Douglas. Nothing Maxine has done is rational, but I believe this invitation holds the keys to many things, including why Linda wanted the Rolodex so badly. We should see Maxine pressuring all the ladies for answers and trying to discover the truth behind what happened.
This also raises the question of what Maxine will do with this information regarding Douglas. Although they’d been married for over twenty years, Maxine didn’t know about his former engagement and didn’t tell her this information while in town with all the people who knew about it. Why was he hiding? She’s going to want to know.
Why didn’t Linda marry Douglas?
Of course, the two were set to get married, but what happened that night, leading to the two going their separate ways? I fully expect plenty of drama, with Douglas possibly cheating being one of the reasons why they didn’t say “I do.” However, what else went down that it’s so top secret? This could explain why Linda changed her name, what Evelyn might be holding over Linda’s head, and maybe even why Linda’s father is in the hospital.
Episode 5 should be pretty fruitful as far as this storyline goes.
What will Robert do next?
After losing the battle with Maxine over Norma’s conservatorship, Robert must return to the drawing board to get answers. We’ve seen that he might be the only person who actually cares for Norma. Because of that, I expect he will try to win Maxine over with his genuine feelings towards seeing Norma get better. Will it work? Who knows when it comes to working with Maxine?
Who directs Palm Royale Episode 5?
After showrunner Abe Slyvia directed back-to-back episodes, Stephanie Laing finds herself behind the camera for “Maxine Shakes the Tree.” Laing isn’t new to Apple TV+, as she has directed every episode of the series Physical on the streaming platform. This will be the first of two episodes she directs for Palm Royale.
