While it was noted by fans of the manga that Delicious in Dungeon takes a much darker turn as it goes along, the tonal shift might still be a surprise for some viewers of the latest episode. The Netflix anime will likely double down on this through Episode 14 and beyond, giving the back half of the season a much bleaker and more serious tinge.
What might happen in Episode 14? Will Laios abandon the party?
While I was right in thinking there is something wrong with Falin, figuring out what that could be is an entirely different story.
- Despite agreeing to head to the surface, I have a feeling that Laios will abandon the party to try and find Falin himself.
- Considering how against staying he was, I could see Chilchuck possibly dying on their way to the surface.
What happened in the previous episode?
Making it to the fifth floor of the Dungeon was no easy feat, so of course, making it back to the surface would be just as hard. However, before Laios’ party can even attempt to make their ascent, Falin disappears yet again. As her brother and friends try to locate her in Delicious in Dungeon Episode 13, they soon realize they may have gotten involved in something much more dangerous than they thought.
- As everyone sleeps, Senshi saves some dragon meat.
- Suddenly, Falin wakes up and begins wandering through the fifth floor, followed by ghosts. She ends up near the red dragon, where she encounters an elf.
- Laios awakens and begins searching for Falin. He finds her and the elf near the Red Dragon.
- The elf reminds Laios they met in the Living Paintings before preparing to attack him, which causes Laios to wonder if they are the Mad Mage.
- Marcille shoots a warning shot at the elf before they can hit Laios. Falin punches Laios instead.
- The elf uses ancient magic to attack the party with dragons made from blood before trapping them in a hole.
- The elf addresses Falin as Dragon before asking if she would like to be restored to her normal body. Suddenly, Falin begins to transform into something else.
- Laios’ party escapes to an empty room after being led by ghosts. They are then found by Orcs, who plan to take them hostage.
- Senshi recognizes the lead Orc as Chief Zon’s sister and asks for mercy.
- Zon’s sister tells them the elf they met rules over the dungeon and has the ability to create and control monsters.
- Hearing all of this, Chilchuck plans to run rather than save Falin, and Zon’s sister agrees to escort him.
- A ghost appears, and Zon’s sister suggests they follow it.
- As they pass where the dragon’s body was, Chilchuck notices its corpse has disappeared.
- Zon’s sister attempts to convince Chilchuck that it is better to be honest with his party rather than run away.
- Chilchuck stumbles upon Kensuke on the ground.
- Chilchuck returns to his party to find Laios fighting Senshi in an attempt to leave.
- Senshi and Chilchuck try to convince Laios to take a moment to return to the surface and regroup.
- Laios reluctantly agrees.
