Summary
“Point of No Return” includes all the action the previous episode lacked, and builds to a major moment for Omega.
The most enduring mystery in the final season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 is the identity of the Shadow Trooper. After making a brief cameo in Episode 10, he returns as the focal point in Episode 11, “Point of No Return”, a title which refers to Omega’s decision to return to Mount Tantiss.
Omega’s choice comes from desperation, but the plan to use it as a means of locating Tantiss’s coordinates falls through, meaning it’s difficult to tell how long Omega will remain separated from the rest of Clone Force 99.
Pabu Is Discovered
This all comes about because, as implied in the previous episode, the mysterious Shadow Trooper has managed to track down Phee Genoa. At the start of “Point of No Return”, he finds her ship at a fuelling station, sneaks aboard, and accesses information on her navicomputer that reveals the location of Pabu.
The Shadow Trooper – or Clone X if you prefer – contacts Scorch to fill him in, and a division of Imperial troops is put on standby, ready for action if he manages to find Omega. Which he does.
Sneak Attack
The Bad Batch is already preparing to leave Pabu, much to Omega’s chagrin since, as she tells Lyana, it’s the only place that has ever felt like home to her. But Clone X arrives before they can leave and blows up the Marauder, which leaves Wrecker badly injured.
The Empire lands on Pabu in numbers, with the rest of Clone Force 99 other than Omega deemed expendable. The attacks on the planet disrupt all of its industry and cause giant problems for the locals, which gives Omega an immediate crisis of conscience. The only way off the planet is by stealing an Imperial ship, which Hunter sets about doing, but that won’t solve the long-term problem. The Empire won’t stop hunting Omega, and it’ll destroy anyone who gets between them and her.
Omega Makes A Bold Decision in The Bad Batch Season 3 Episode 11
Realizing this, Omega decides to surrender herself to the Empire and be returned to Mount Tantiss.
Crosshair is, understandably, not thrilled with this plan, but as has been a recurring theme of Season 3, he’s unable to stop Omega from getting her own way. To be fair, though, she does dress the idea up with a sensible pitch. If he shoots a tracker on the ship she leaves on, they’ll be able to track it all the way to the elusive Imperial base, and they can later mount a rescue mission.
Omega surrenders to Clone X and is taken aboard his ship. She’s searched for tracking devices, but as Crosshair quietly follows, it seems like their plan might pay off. However, the ship gets too far away for Crosshair to hit it with the tracker, meaning that once again Omega is on her way to Mount Tantiss without the Bad Batch knowing the base’s location.
