Netflix has teased fans of the Jurassic Park franchise with a new spin-off featuring some well-loved characters from another popular project, Camp Cretaceous. Dinosaurs, the human monsters that hunt them, and The Nublar Six are brought together in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory

What is the plot of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory?

The show will catch us up with The Nublar Six after they have made it off the islands. The team finds themselves in the middle of a new adventure that sees them uncovering a massive conspiracy, and discovering a secret about their own tragic past. The show is set six years after Camp Cretaceous, and fans can expect to see a return of Darius and Ben in leading roles, although who else will be on board is still speculation.

The season opener features a news report that recaps the story of the six teens who survived the Jurassic World adventure from the first film that starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, but the tone gets darker as we see that it’s not just the dinosaurs that are being hunted, but The Nublar Six are in the crosshairs too.

When will Chaos Theory be released on Netflix?

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory will be released globally on Netflix on May 24th, 2024.

What other characters from Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous will return for Chaos Theory?

We know that Ben and Darius will definitely be in this new series, with Paul-Mikel Williams and Sean Giambrone reprising their roles. However, at the time of writing, the showrunners seem to be keeping their cards close to their chest, avoiding giving away any details about who else will return.

We do not know where Brooklyn, Sammy, Yasmina, and Kenji are, and this may be a deliberate ploy from the showrunners to keep fans in the dark about the story. The current teaser trailer shows us that Ben and Darius are on the run, as dark forces seem to be hunting them down, and they do say they have to warn the others, but we don’t see any of the cast in the present day.

If we had to guess, it makes sense that the rest of the team will appear, in some form. Showrunner Scott Kreamer has stated that there is one character we won’t be seeing. In an interview with Geeky Tyrant, he would say “Owen Grady’s not going to drive up and meet them at the Taco Bell,” so no Chris Pratt in this spin-off.

Is Jurassic World: Chaos Theory a sequel to  Camp Cretaceous?

It is confirmed that the show will take place six years after Camp Cretaceous Season 1. However, the final episode of Season 5 sees the timeline jump forward into Jurassic World; Dominion‘s landscape, placing it three years after Fallen Kingdom, and a year before Dominion. So from a technical point of view, you could argue that Chaos Theory is both a sequel and a prequel.
