Netflix May 2024 Release Schedule: Highlights, Sleeper Hits & More
via Netflix

Greetings, one and all, and welcome to another streamer’s guide to Netflix, this time for May 2024. As usual, plenty of originals and licensed releases are coming to the platform, so I’ve rounded everything up and picked out the stuff you should probably be keeping an eye on.

This article will be updated throughout the month to reflect all the latest information, so be sure to bookmark the page and keep checking back if you’re a subscriber.

Highlights of the Month

A Man In Full (Limited Series) | May 2

Based on the Tom Wolfe novel, A Man in Full boasts one of the most impressive casts of any Netflix release in May. Jeff Daniels, Lucy Lie, and Diane Lane all star in this limited series about an Atlanta real estate tycoon who faces bankruptcy.

If Succession has proved anything, it’s that audiences can’t get enough of morally unscrupulous rich people doing whatever is necessary to hold onto power. This seems like the closest thing to that HBO mega-hit that Netflix have managed to produce.

Bridgerton (Season 3 Volume 1) | May 16

This one goes without saying. Bridgerton is one of the streaming giant’s marquee IPs, and the release of the third season is highly anticipated among fans.

Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton will be at the center of this new season, which will debut in two four-episode parts. The hashtag #Polin is already doing the rounds on social media, and you can only expect more of that sort of thing after the release of Volume 1.

Top K-Drama Pick

The 8 Show (Limited Series) | May 17

Netflix are looking to hit the jackpot again with another K-Drama that, like Squid Game, focuses on people in financial difficulties being forced to compete in potentially deadly challenges.

Here, the gimmick is that eight contestants are trapped in an eight-story building, where they earn money as time passes. However, essentials have a significant markup, and purchases take money off the prize pot.

Sleeper Hit of the Month

Netflix May 2024 Release Schedule

One to keep an eye on this month is Eric, a limited series starring a disheveled Benedict Cumberbatch as the puppeteer father of a missing son. Set in 80s New York, Vincent becomes increasingly self-destructive and volatile during the search for his son.

This looks to be as much a character study as a mystery, and Cumberbatch has previous playing self-destructive addicts, having done so in the excellent Patrick Melrose. This could easily be the best individual performance of the month, so look out for it.
