Summary

Although it starts slower than usual, the second half of the episode picks up the pace, adding new tensions to the Dungeon dynamics.

Since saving Falin, things have only worsened for Laios’ party as they find themselves still trapped on the fifth floor. Despite their best efforts to leave, it seems the Mad Mage isn’t entirely done with them yet, if he was ever planning to let them escape at all. With so many monsters and obstacles to overcome, it doesn’t seem like things are going to get any easier for Laios’ party in Delicious in Dungeon Episode 16.

Laios Is Hallucinating

The episode starts with Chilchuck announcing that he’s noticed some patterns within the Dungeon and the way things are moving. As they explore the floor, they notice the Dragon’s body and other things are gone.

Laios encounters a ghost in the walls and says that he’s been hallucinating ever since he used healing magic. Marcel realizes this is a sign and says they should hide. She directs them to walls as the Cleaners, monsters of the Dungeons that fix the damage, haven’t seemed to get to it yet.

Laios’s Party Runs Into Shuro’s

The group finally makes it to the stairs and takes a break to enjoy a meal. They don’t realize that Shuro’s party is watching them until they’re already attacked. Laios is as friendly with Shuro as ever, throwing everyone off. Kabru introduces himself to Laios and decides not to ask him about the treasure after meeting him.

While trying to fill Shuro in on what’s happened to Falin, he passes out. Realizing he hasn’t been eating properly or taking care of himself, they decide to break for a meal and regroup. Laios admits they’ve been eating monsters to stay alive and begins describing all of the things they’ve eaten until now.

Potential Consequences

As she cooks with Senshi, Maizuru, a member of Shuro’s party, admits that he doesn’t understand why Shuro wants to return to the Dungeon so badly.

As they go to bring Shuro food, they find him strangling Laios because he used black magic to revive Falin. Shuro is upset at the potential consequences of their action, and Laios all but asks him not to say anything.

Far on the other side of the Dungeon, Falin searches for Lord Delgal with a monstrous look in her eyes.

Delicious in Dungeon Episode 16 Is Exciting and Informative

For a moment toward the beginning of the episode, I was expecting filler, considering how slow and almost calm everything seemed. As it went on, though, the episode became not only more exciting but very informative.

Viewers finally got to see Laios interact with both Shuro and Kabru, giving them an intriguing look into these old and new relationships. With each new encounter, it feels like we learn something new about Laios that makes his character much more compelling and interesting to follow.
