WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS

One of the most upsetting storylines in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory is the death of Brooklynn, who was part of The Nublar Six. I was shocked when the story confirmed that she had died, with a grieving Darius motivated to avenge her death from Episode 1.

The series opens up with the death of Brooklyn at the forefront of Darius’s mind. He wants to seek vengeance on the Allosaurus that killed her. Later in Season 1, there are flashbacks showing the night when Brooklyn died in the middle of a forest. Brooklyn runs and screams, and then her voice peters out. What’s left behind is a pile of blood. The main conspiracy in Chaos Theory is that someone/an organization is targeting The Nublar Six, and Brooklyn is a victim of this.

Darius is devastated. He blames himself for Brooklynn’s death because he did not turn up for her that night. Coupled with this, he’s also in love with Brooklynn, a secret he reveals to Kenji later in Season 1 of Chaos TheoryWith Ben buying into the conspiracy that they are being hunted, the need to track down the Allosaurus becomes secondary. There’s a new conspiracy haunting the Camp Fam.

Brooklynn’s Death Twist Explained

If, like me, you caught on to the Brooklynn twist very early on, this was unsurprising. First of all, the context around her death was vague at best. Second, the flashback scenes showed a pool of blood, but there was no direct confirmation that her body was retrieved. Of course, there’s a caveat: it is a kid’s series, so showing too much would be needless, but I think the series intentionally made this storyline choppy. For many viewers, the assumption is that Brooklynn is dead.

However, the twist in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory is that Brooklynn is not dead; she is alive and well. She only has one hand, as presumably, the Allosaurus badly injured her at the time. The blood probably came from her arm, and because there was so much, everyone assumed she was dead.

In the characters’ eyes, Brooklynn is dead, but she’s working behind the scenes, unearthing a conspiracy. She likely believes her life is at risk, so she has chosen to remain “confirmed dead” so she can track down those who are trying to wipe out The Nublar Six.

This twist, which comes at the end of Season 1, sets up the basis of Season 2, as Brooklynn is seen as a key character amongst the group. Plus, she has a past with Kenji and Darius. The first season of Chaos Theory confirms that Brooklynn and Kenji had a relationship after Camp Cretaceous but ultimately broke up. Darius confessed to Kenji that he was in love with her, which added to the pressure of an already tense friendship.
