Apple TV+ capitalized on a gaming-themed series with Mythic Quest, which has remained a fixture for the company. To further develop the MQ universe, the streaming platform will debut Side Quest, an anthology spin-off, on March 26, 2025.

Side Quest is a four-episode anthology series centered on the employees, players, and fans of the Mythic Quest game. While it takes place in the same universe as MQ, each chapter presents a standalone story featuring its own theme, so it’s unlikely there will be anything linear.

The spin-off series aims to expand within the gaming world, offering a more macro understanding of the gaming company’s impact on the world and the players.

Cast and Characters

Little information was given about each story. However, Apple TV+ has given an idea of who will be starring in each episode in recent press releases.

  • Episode 1 will star Derek Waters and Anna Konkle (seen in PEN15, The Drop).
  • Episode 2 will star Ramon Reed, Bria Henderson, Leonard Robinson, Rome Flynn, and Shalita Grant (YOU Season 3).
  • Episode 3 will star Annamarie Kasper and Esai Morales (as seen in Superfly, Titans, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning).
  • Episode 4 will star Van Crosby, Melanie Brook, Alice Wen, David Calvillo, and Justin Jarzombek.

We also expect an appearance from Rob McElhenney.

How to Watch & Release Schedule

All four episodes of Side Quest will be released all at once on Apple TV+ on March 26, 2025. The spin-off series will launch alongside the Season 4 finale of Mythic Quest. Fans of the universe will undoubtedly be well served here.

Side Quest feels like a significant addition to this universe for the fans. It also shows how Apple TV+ is willing to expand its universes amongst its slow-burning but high-quality library. Opting for an anthological series is a good move. If it’s successful, a second season can be considered. If it flops, there’s no risk to the story, as it is an anthology.
