Summary
How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) caps off a needless Season 4 with another solid, satisfying ending, leaving no reason to return to the story again.
How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) already had a pretty decent ending in Season 3, which puts the Season 4 finale in a difficult position, having to satisfyingly conclude a story that didn’t need to happen as well as seeing the whole show and its characters off with some finality. This is, after all, the final season, even though it also seemed like the previous one was going to be. There’s a lot for Episode 6 to do. And despite feeling just a teeny bit reiterative, it mostly manages to do it.
The title of this finale, “How Did That Ever Work?”, could apply to the show overall. When the first season was better than anyone expected, I don’t think we thought we’d see another three. And yet here we are. It has been a long(ish) and storied ride to this point, but ultimately the ending is about giving the core cast the send-off they deserve, plot particulars be damned.
In Memoriam
This finale opens with a funeral, though it isn’t immediately clear who has died, which is a pretty classic device in this kind of thing. But it sets the right expectations. Someone is definitely going to snuff it before the show is over… or are they?
More on that in a bit. In the meantime, let’s set the stage. Moritz, Daniel, Lenny, and Ersan have all been taken to the desert as captives of Behzat and his eccentric goons. With the collapse of Brofrost, a lot of business has been lost, and the gang is on the hook for it.
Luckily for Ersan, he’s able to talk his way out of it by reminding Behzat that he went to prison for him. That doesn’t do much to help the others, though, who have spent the season disagreeing about everything and now need to work together in order to get free.
Moritz’s Pitch
Moritz comes up with the idea of using BonusLife as the new legitimate front for Behzat’s operations. This is the point when Daniel learns that Moritz technically has a controlling share of the company. Given his own 2% in the contract that Lenny never got around to changing, and the 49% purchased by Thomas Muller, who is Moritz, he technically owns 51% of the company.
But this is also when Moritz learns that BonusLife isn’t worth anything, and Daniel was cooking the books. But Behzat doesn’t need to know that, so the idea buys them some time while they pretend to repair the servers (Daniel literally just types “code code code” at one point, which made me laugh.) Behzat might not be able to get the name BonusLife correct, but he likes the idea.
Moritz also convinces Behzat that he’ll need Daniel, the “brains” behind the operation, to run it. Beyond that, he’ll need a reliable systems administrator, which is good since that’s where Moritz and Lenny both specialize. The problem is that he only needs one.

The Escape And Moritz’s (Presumed) Death
Behzat drops a gun halfway between Moritz and Lenny and explains that whoever kills the other will get the job. But since he’s had enough of Moritz, he tries to coax Lenny, who grabs the gun, into pulling the trigger. It looks like he’s about to when an explosion goes off in the background, presumably triggered by Ersan, who had moments before disappeared to fetch a shovel for whoever didn’t get the job.
The distraction gives Moritz and Daniel the chance to flee, though not before Lenny accidentally shoots Behzat in the shoulder. They’re able to make it to a Jeep and get on the road, but the vehicle is quickly running out of fuel.
On the pretext of getting the more experienced driver into the driver’s seat, Moritz exits the vehicle. But he doesn’t get back in. Instead, he decides to give himself up to Behzat in order to save Lenny. It’s a tearful farewell as Lenny begs him not to, but Moritz’s mind is made up. He walks towards the vehicles chasing them while Lenny drives away, hearing multiple gunshots in the background.
In Memoriam Pt. II
The funeral from the opening scene turns out to be Moritz’s. Everyone is assembled for it, including Lenny, who was able to escape from the desert after Lisa and Kira tortured a confession out of Rainer using a swarm of angry bees.
After the funeral, Dan and Lenny are given a USB drive containing Moritz’s final goodbyes (clips from this have formed the framing device in most of the episodes). It’s another touching farewell as Moritz finally reckons with some human emotions, tearfully bidding his best friend and even Daniel goodbye and wishing them luck in their ventures together.
We subsequently learn that Moritz recorded this footage after he “died”. We see that when he approached Behzat, a slapstick fumble with the gun somehow led him and his goons to all shoot each other, leaving Moritz and Ersan to go free. He’s allowing everyone else to believe he’s dead for their own safety while he languishes on an offshore oil rig.
But the plan works. How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) Season 4 ends with Moritz alive but isolated, Lenny having decided to go to San Francisco, and BonusLife still operational, albeit downsized and restructured, with Daniel and Ersan, aka Thomas Muller, at the helm. It’s a happy ending – again. And this time, it should end up being a final one.
