Since Devil May Cry Season 2 is adamant about treating every action scene like a nu-metal music video, it’s only right that the soundtrack is kind of a big deal. Like the first season, which was chock full of ‘00s rock anthems to reflect creator Adi Shankar’s idea that the show is set in a PS2-era “memory of the world”, the second outing is littered with big-name artists. The full Season 2 soundtrack, as with the first season’s, has been released by Netflix Music and is available on Amazon and all good digital music platforms.
Music was part of Devil May Cry’s marketing drive from the very beginning. Its launch trailer was set to Papa Roach’s “Last Resort”, and Limp Bizkit’s “Rollin’” was the first season’s opening credits theme song. One of its bigger coups was an original Evanescence song, “Afterlife”, which was performed at The Game Awards. On that note, Evanescence is back on the Season 2 soundtrack, as is Amy Lee specifically, with a version of “Meet Me in the Afterlife” remixed by synthwave duo Power Glove, who composed the soundtrack.
A bunch of other Power Glove remixes dot the soundtrack, including ones of Papa Roach’s “Getting Away with Murder”, Ari Mason’s “Dim the Lights”, and GUNSHIP’s “Gates of Disorder”.
