There was plenty going on in the premiere of Silo Season 3, including Juliette’s amnesia and convenient mayoralty, a pre-apocalypse plot introducing a potentially world-ending threat, and Camille Sims being in league with the sinister Algorithm. But the mysteries are far from unpacked, and there are multiple angles stemming from this opening hour that are definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Here are the four biggest burning questions we have that should hopefully start to be addressed in the next episode and beyond:

Who Left Juliette the Note?

At the end of the episode, while Juliette was being double-dosed on memory suppressants in the form of “vitamins”, she received a secret message in her special chowder. A hidden capsule housed a note instructing her to turn her bowl upside-down if she wanted to know more, to head to the marketplace for a meeting, and to burn the note itself. She quickly followed the instructions, proving that despite her amnesia, her innate curiosity and rebel spirit haven’t gone anywhere.

But who sent her the note? It was obviously someone sympathetic to her with knowledge of what’s really going on behind the scenes of the current regime. That largely eliminates Juliette’s staunchest allies in Mechanical, like Knox and Shirley, and instead leans more towards someone like the still-missing Lukas Kyle or a faction of the Outsiders that are causing trouble around Silo 18.

Where Is Lukas Kyle?

Following on from this, one of the key questions is where Lukas Kyle is hiding out and what he’s up to. After the Season 2 finale revealed the Safeguard Protocol to him, he’s now one of the few people aware of what the Algorithm is capable of. Since he knows that all of the citizens are under serious threat, it’s likely he’s hiding out and trying to work in secret so as not to attract the Algorithm’s attention and trigger the Safeguard.

Then there are the Outsiders, devoted followers of Patrick Kennedy, the relic smuggler whom Sims forced into firebombing the Sheriff’s Station. Since the Outsiders are also devoted to exposing the corruption in Silo 18’s hierarchy, it’s possible that they may be harboring Lukas, or that he and the faction are working together toward the same overall goal. He could also be hiding out in the tunnels.

The Outsiders stole a helmet from IT, which tied into the banner they later revealed, exposing the display as a lie. Given that Lukas was an IT systems analyst, he could be helping them to figure out and expose the technology.

Who is the voice of the Algorithm?

There are plenty of theories floating around about the Algorithm, but the broad debate revolves around whether it’s an autonomous AI acting according to its programming or simply a communications interface for an individual who is hiding out somewhere else, possibly in Silo 1.

Many people think that the voice behind the Algorithm could be Daniel Keene. However, he would either be significantly older or preserved in some way, which is probably how the show will begin to fold in elements of the good and bad nanites introduced in the pre-apocalypse sequences.

How Long Can Juliette Maintain Her Cover?

Juliette knows something is amiss in the Silo; however, she doesn’t yet know that she’s being drugged. The amnesia storyline is new for the show, so it likely won’t last too long, but that means that we have to transition away from it, with Juliette steadily regaining her memories. That will mean that she stops taking the “vitamins” containing the memory suppressants.

I suspect that whoever wants to meet her in the marketplace will clue her in about the drugs, and she will then stop taking them. However, she’s going to have to do that without being discovered, which means she’s going to have to fake her amnesia as her real memory returns.

I don’t anticipate this process will take long, but it will also create tons of suspicion and danger around her. I’m anticipating only an episode or two will be required for Juliette to regain her full memories, but how long she has to maintain the ruse is another matter entirely. However, I still don’t anticipate it’ll be very long until Robert or Camille — who I assume are the two people complicit in her drugging, and that’s assuming Robert even knows — notices something is amiss.
