Nicole Ackman

Nicole joined Ready Steady Cut in June 2022 as a Film Critic, publishing over 60 articles for the site. Nicole is a writer and historian based in Raleigh, North Carolina, with vast experience in entertainment journalism and museums. Her knowledge of films has been noticed, and she was approved as a certified critic with Rotten Tomatoes in 2022.

As well as writing for Ready Steady Cut, Nicole has contributed to Culture Cabinet, AwardsWatch, and FF2 Media, bringing her expert reviews of movies in all genres.

Nicole also fancies herself as a Book Critic, providing her favorite choices on the Book of the Month website.

As a historian, Nicole runs her own substack called “A Historian in the Public Sphere,” which discusses all things history-related, from real historical sites to fictional matters. She also co-hosts a podcast called Petticoats & Poppies, delving into period dramas from the perspective of women.
