There's a peculiar feeling you get when you know something awful is going to happen, but can't quite put a finger on it. There's probably some complex evolutionary explanation, a biological early-warning system that can detect dread in the atmosphere. Among its many other achievements, Paradise has managed to weaponise this feeling.

At first blush, DTF St. Louis is a show you've seen before. The HBO murder-mystery is about three people circling the drain of a sexless middle age, and one of them turns up dead, casting the other two in suspicion. It isn't the most unique of elevator pitches.

If nothing else, American Classic has a love for theatre in its very bones. It’s probably worth pointing this out, since so many shows are about things only cursorily, as a way to excuse the character-driven story really being told. At least in its two-part premiere (Episodes 1 and 2 of the eight-part MGM+ series dropped together), American Classic is the exact opposite.

Sheriff Country is making a big claim for itself in Episode 10. The midseason premiere, “Crucible, Part 2”, picks up five minutes after the midseason finale, and manages to not only immediately resituate us in that tense siege situation but also keep the suspense up unrelentingly for the entire episode.

And we’re back. After a several-month hiatus, Boston Blue returns in Episode 10 not just to conclude the cliffhanger left by the midseason finale, but also to tie up one of Season 1’s big overarching plots – the murder of Judge Ben Silver.

Let me just get it out of the way: However you want to split hairs regarding whether Scrubs (2026) is Season 8, 9, or 10 of the original series, or whether it’s a completely new thing entirely – which, according to IMDb at least, is the case – there’s only one thing that really matters. Does ABC’s reboot recapture the tone of the show?

There’s something weird about The Last Thing He Told Me that is difficult to put a finger on. It has always been there, but it’s especially noticeable in Season 2. The best way of describing it would probably be a feeling of inertia, or glossy emptiness. It all just feels so rote, so artificial, that it’s really quite difficult to care about any of it.

In its first season, Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters made a surprisingly great case for itself as one of the better small-screen franchise tie-ins. And Season 2, despite a break lasting over two years, seems determined to live up to that reputation in Episode 1.

The Pitt always causes me some degree of anxiety, and Season 2 has taken great pleasure in doing that so far. But I must confess to being unusually susceptible to Episode 8, since "2:00 P.M." marks the start of an analogue stint that might last up to 24 hours.
