Fundamentally, The Potato Lab continues to work in Episodes 7 & 8 about as well as it has worked up to this point, and in largely the same way.

The word of the day is languishing. That’s the one that keeps springing to mind during Surface Season 2, anyway. In Episode 5, “Daybreak”, we continue to take the most circuitous route possible to conclusions that we just know aren’t going to be worth the aggro when we get there.

I’m not sure now’s the time to be introducing new characters into Yellowjackets Season 3. The show has mostly worked by maintaining a tight cast, albeit two distinct versions of them.

Happy Face is a true story, more or less, but you get the sense in its two-part premiere that it’d rather not be.

Reacher Season 3 has potentially been an episode or two too long. The season overall has been decent, and there’s so much to wrap up in the finale – including Reacher’s revenge mission, Teresa’s rescue, and the fate of Richard – that it’s virtually guaranteed to be action-packed.

It turns out I’m in the minority here, but I genuinely thought Episode 4 of Daredevil: Born Again was one of the best episodes of Daredevil ever.

In Mythic Quest Season 4, Episode 9, David is engulfed in a profound crisis, struggling to keep the company afloat.

The Natalia Grace case is such a bizarre true-crime story that it doesn’t really need a dramatization. A documentary – perhaps one like Discovery’s The Curious Case of Natalia Grace – seems like enough.

It probably says a lot about how harsh the Montana winter of 1923 is that a man having his skull drilled into constitutes a real bright spot. But here we are. Episode 4, “Journey the Rivers of Iron”, skips across all the ongoing subplots with a real sense of confidence.

I’ve figured out what Watson needs to do to be interesting, which is to focus on everyone other than Watson himself.

If nothing else, The Hunting Party is heading in the right direction. Episode 7 seems to have settled on what works best about the show, much like the previous episode did.

To be fair to Suits LA, it hasn’t exactly flaunted its spin-off status. This is either for better or worse, depending on what you’re looking for, but it’s pretty hard to argue that Episode 4, “Batman Returns”, is the outing most obviously coasting on the association.

Buddhism is snaking through The White Lotus Season 3 like a vein, pumping life-giving thematic resonance through arteries and organs and back again.

I’m assuming that I know what the end of The Potato Lab is going to be already because it’s an enemies-to-lovers rom-com and they all tend to work the same in a macro sense.

Oh, boy. That was a lot, right? I can’t even begin to imagine how many viewers were left heartbroken by Volume 2 of When Life Gives You Tangerines.

Sometimes a show like The Potato Lab comes along and works almost in spite of itself. It’s an odd phenomenon.

Yellowjackets Season 3 felt like it was starting to get going in the previous episode, even though it was lacking those big, key developments.

You’ve got to appreciate Surface taking some chances in Season 2, even if the results might end up being a little mixed.
