Paradise already upended the entire show at the end of its premiere, so it’s no surprise that Episode 2, “Sinatra”, doesn’t have quite the same wow factor.

CBS is hoping the Sherlock well hasn’t run dry after Elementary, but crucially that show had Holmes in it. The premiere of Watson opens with his apparent demise after a tumble down a waterfall in pursuit of James Moriarty (who else?).

After an excellently mysterious premiere reintroduced viewers to the world of Severance in its much-anticipated Season 2, “Goodbye, Mrs. Selvig” does the same thing from the opposite angle.

I said in my recap of the premiere that Disney+’s K-Drama Unmasked is unusually forward about sex and violence, and if nothing else Episodes 3 and 4 prove me right.

With the end in sight, The Night Agent Season 2 pulls no punches in Episode 9. There’s at least one major death here, several hair-raising set-pieces, an out-of-nowhere turnaround in the Iranian subplot, and some genuine emotional catharsis to seal the deal.

There it is – that end of season feeling. It took a while, but Episode 8 is where The Night Agent Season 2 really kicks into gear, delivering significant character turns and major twists to build the stakes ahead of the final two episodes.

There’s quite a bit going on in Episode 7 of The Night Agent Season 2. “Tilt” is, I think, the densest chapter so far, the one most full of key developments and crucial turning points in virtually every ongoing subplot.

What makes a good agent? Given that’s the title of Episode 6 of The Night Agent Season 2, it’s a worthwhile question to ask, since it also forms the thematic basis of another hour that takes things pretty slowly and then explodes into action towards the end.
