Episode 3 is all about the Home Opener of the season. After the Pirates served a convincing win in their opening game, “Home on the Range” is all about bringing the heat back to their home crowd. There are high expectations and a lot of pressure.

“Home on the Range” gives us an angle into Kailon’s life. It turns out that his upbringing was not great. There was a lot of violence in his neighborhood, and his father got involved in dealing drugs, and in general, his family struggled on the breadline. We understand this story a lot in this Netflix series, and Last Chance U Season 4 reiterates the point that these kids are from pressurizing backgrounds.

In contrast, Chance is from the State of the football team. The reason why this is relevant is that “Home on the Range” reveals how many players come in from “out of State”.

And that’s when episode 3 delves into the locals, and their thoughts on the money going into College football in the area. Surprisingly, despite the depression from last season surrounding the lousy record the team holds, a group of locals is against the redevelopment money that has been spent on facilities. There’s also a judgment on the recruitment policy, especially with a lot of players coming from “out of State”. On the flipside, a few locals are interviewed, and they express the optimism in the area due to change in the football team.

To end Last Chance U season 4, episode 3, “Home on the Range”, the opening home game arrives, and unfortunately, it’s a bad defeat for Indy. There’s a genuinely reasonable effort in the third and fourth quarter, but they fell short, and you can sense the disappointment in the crowd. Bad defense and bad plays from the Quarter Back Chase put the entire team on the back foot. Interestingly, Malik is still on the frays watching and supporting the team. Surely Coach Brown is going to call him.
