It’s all happening in Episode 9, “The Hidey Hole”. As we approach the final road, Orange Is the New Black Season 7 is trying to solidify as many of the character’s stories as possible.

We get a window into Cindy’s life in “The Hidey Hole” — she’s making herself useful at home, she is energetic and happy; surprising considering most of those who leave, struggle. Cindy manages to get a decent job, but when she arrives home to her daughter and mother, she sees someone has sent the family a letter from prison with the truths. Remember when Tasha said karma would come back to bite her? Regardless, it’s hard not to feel for Cindy.

Joe Caputo is still struggling with the #MeToo scandal — after he approached the accuser, he now has a restraining order assigned to him, meaning he has lost a job. His partner Natalie reassures him that he’s now doing good in the world, but she’s also trying to encourage him to produce sperm so they can have a baby.

As for Piper, the character makes considerable progress in “The Hidey Hole” — she decides to be free, and let everyone know about her past. While at work, she blurts out she is a felon, and surprisingly her colleagues are welcoming about her news. Her father eventually comes round to her true self, and they share laughs. Piper is finally finding her place in the world.

We learn about Nicky’s new girlfriend in Episode 6. After repeated attempts to go down on her, Nicky asks Shani why their sexual relationship is one-way. She reveals that when she was 12 years old, she was a victim of genital mutilation. I find this is a new road with Nicky, who seems to have found someone genuine to confide in physically and emotionally, and its not just about sex.

Lorna is the focal point of Episode 9, “The Hidey Hole” — her baby Instagram has been taken down, and she is horrified that this has happened. Her husband reminds her that the baby is dead, and due to her being in denial, he requests for a divorce. Lorna’s entire mental wellbeing shuts down, and we witness flashbacks to when she was young where she was traumatized by events of a man trying to seduce her. Later that evening, she accidentally killed someone while walking home, and her memory shut down, and she couldn’t remember.

As Orange Is the New Black Season 7, Episode 9, “The Hidey Hole” ends, Lorna tries to escape prison, causing it to go into shut down mode. Losing her baby and her husband in such a short space of time is her entire dream destroyed.
