Summary

“The Dilemma” is all about the trials and tribulations of family planning from the perspective of three different women.

The Letdown Season 2, Episode 2, is all about family planning. If you’ve never had a baby, what happens before the birth of your newborn is that the doctor asks you and your partner what you plan to do after the birth. When I was asked this question, I was not sure what was being asked; how on earth can you think about a second child when you haven’t even had the first one yet?

Family planning brings emotional nuisances for different couples; “The Dilemma” sees Sophie’s sex drive to the max soon after she’s announced she is pregnant again with her second child. On the flip side, she’s incredibly fragile about her uterus, paranoid it is going to collapse. She buys a vibrating Kegel device to reduce the likelihood of that happening.

As for Ester, who limits her emotions in every aspect, her age is against her for a second child, and she soon finds this out when she visits the doctor, who gives her a 3% chance of conception.

We are treated to another Audrey flashback in “The Dilemma” — it turns out she did have an abortion when she was pregnant soon after her first child, which would explain her fragile state. At this stage, it’s difficult to tell if she regrets her choice.

At the end of Season 2, Episode 2, Sophie asks Ester and Audrey about C-sections, and based on Audrey’s mixed response, Ester asks Audrey when she had an abortion.

But with downs there are ups — Stevie did his first steps!
