“Xquic” saw the MC conduct a daring rescue, while the motivations of almost everyone continue to remain unclear.

Lincoln Potter (Ray McKinnon) is obviously despicable, but I’ve got lots of time for a man who refers to his mercenary force as “troglodytes”, which is what he blurts out when he and Agent Linares (Efrat Dor) discover in “Xquic” that Adelita (Carla Baratta) is being kept in a cage. He also isn’t stupid, wondering, correctly, what Galindo (Danny Pino) had to gain by supposedly helping his men catch Adelita.
Galindo, to his credit, feels incredibly guilty about her fate — so guilty, in fact, that Emily (Sarah Bolger) thinks he’s in love with her. He insists he isn’t, but you never know; anyone who reads these recaps will know that I’m pulling for the last-minute revelation that Galindo is Adelita’s baby-daddy, just to let the cartel cat loose amongst the tattooed motorcyclist pigeons.
Speaking of which, when they arrive back at the clubhouse, EZ (JD Pardo) and Angel (Clayton Cardenas) are in trouble for antagonizing the Swole Boyz, but Felipe (Edward James Olmos) shows up for a wordless family cuddle and Alvarez (Emilio Rivera) calls to inform the MC about Adelita. They naturally venture into the usual tunnels to cross the border and rescue her, but Angel’s feelings cause a rift between him and Bishop (Michael Irby), who settle their differences with a brief fistfight during which Angel blurts out that the kid is his.
Meanwhile in “Xquic”, Emily visits Felipe at the butcher’s shop, where she reveals that she has been snooping through Dita’s (Ada Maris) private possessions, and has photographic proof of her relationship with him back when he was Ignacio. She also saw his truck parked near the doctor’s office. While she might not know the full extent of their relationship — or her husband’s potential parentage — she knows enough to cause quite a stir. Can she keep her mouth shut?
A bit later in Mayans MC Season 2, Episode 5, the gang spot a convoy of armed men transporting a visibly pregnant woman, and despite EZ’s weird eidetic memory powers flaring up, they give chase. Naturally, it’s a decoy. At the same time, Alvarez is in pursuit of an alternate vehicle. EZ finally decides to make sense of what he saw, determining that Adelita is in a completely different car. Can they reach it before it crosses the border, and before Alvarez makes matters much worse by intercepting the other vehicle?
Of course they can, but it’s touch and go for a moment. “Xquic” includes some fun practical vehicle stunts as the car has to be stopped after its driver and passenger have been killed, but it’s all for naught — Adelita insists they leave her so that the revolution can continue unmolested, which Angel is, needless to say, not exactly thrilled about. But they agree, leaving things in an even more precarious position than usual.
Mayans MC Season 2, Episode 5 contained a fair amount of action, but it was very much an episode designed to set up later payoffs. Luckily, the character drama in this show is compelling enough that an episode like that hardly feels like a bad thing — and there are so many directions to take the story in now that what exactly might happen is anyone’s guess.
