Dollface Recap: Keeping Secrets

In Episode 3, “Mystery Brunette”, Madison (Brenda Song) wants Jules to attend the biggest night of her career — a Vegan Chef Book launch. Jules agrees and then the cat lady turns up again and plays a game with her called “Should She Go Out?” which provides a range of different, but terrible choices including FOMO.

So it looks like Jules needs to attend this event and Stella helps her dress up. Jules finds out that Madison invited Stella first, but Stella pretended to have food poisoning — she is attending a celebrity party instead where Mr. Lawrence claims he will be dying soon; it’s his last ever party. Jules now has secrets to keep between two friends.

At the party, Jules is a bad “mingler” and accidentally reveals to a reporter that the chef is a secret carnivore. Madison, learning of Jules’ error and attempt to keep secrets, has to find a way of bargaining with the reporter not to leak it in the news. Jules has to give up Stella’s secret and tells the reporter of Mr. Lawrence’s party that is celebrating his impending death.

At the party, Stella tells Izzy to be less revealing and more mysterious. When Madison and Jules arrive at the party, they learn it’s not a “death” party, but a magic show, where they will stop Mr. Lawrence’s heart for 3 minutes and then resuscitate him. During the show, Madison faints — she hates magic shows.

With Madison awake, and Mr. Lawrence finishing the magic show (and surviving), she reveals to her friends that her new boyfriend is still married but awaiting a divorce. Dollface Season 1, Episode 3, “Mystery Brunette” ends with Jeremy’s sister calling Jules about her wedding, insisting she must still attend. Izzy is in the news for being the mysterious brunette shocked by Mr. Lawrence’s magic show.
