Ah, a rebound. Feel Good Season 1, Episode 6 opens up with Mae waking up in Laura’s bed, but they haven’t got physical yet. That soon changes as they kiss and have sex. Mae doesn’t want Laura’s mother Maggie to know about it so asks her to keep it quiet.
Meanwhile, George watches Mae’s stand up routine on the laptop; she’s clearly regretting breaking up with her. At work, she gets annoyed for one of the students saying “fag”.
Mae’s complete relapse starts in Episode 6. She has an outburst at her Narcotics Anonymous meeting and walks out. She decides to get drunk with Kevin and they go to many bars and then they enter the stand-up venue and audiences are ready for her. Mae is the headliner after her YouTube video goes viral. She does rather well.
George’s regret continues; she asks her friends when is the last time they had proper conversations and wonders why they haven’t asked her about the break-up. She feels isolated by this.
Laura’s mother Maggie angrily confronts Mae about having sex with her daughter — Laura is upset about being used. Maggie states she now has to rebuild her entire relationship with her daughter and then walks off in anger.
Mae’s downfall is hurting others.
And then it begins; Kevin and Mae take cocaine in the bathroom and then they run out of the club and they both continue to sniff for the rest of the night.
At Kevin’s house, Mae starts kissing Kevin but as they start to get intense, Kevin freaks out over a certain song; Mae wants more cocaine. Kevin rings his sponsor and she comes round to help him — Kevin is upset that he has relapsed and his sponsor repeatedly tells him that he is loved as a bemused Mae becomes more frustrated.
It’s now daylight and Mae walks the streets; she heads to her meeting early but after her outburst, the other members have left — the leader of the group still offers to help.
After her meeting, a distraught Mae rings her mother and asks if she can come home — her mother books a flight for her straight away.
A heartbroken George confronts Mae and asks if she will come over for coffee. When Mae goes to George’s house, George tells Mae she should have taken care of her but Mae stops her in her tracks and explains that she’s going back to Canada. At this point, Mae meets George’s mother but it is shortlived.
Feel Good Season 1, Episode 6 closes with George begging Mae, saying she does not know what to do without her and that she needs her. Mae suddenly kisses George and they have make-up sex. George notices that Mae’s heart is pounding harder than usual after and asks, “Is there anything you need to tell me?”
I wonder what the repercussions will be for George and Mae when George finds out Mae has completely relapsed? Guess we will find out in Season 2.
