How does Mystic Pop-Up Bar episode 7 open?

Episode 7 begins with Han Kang Bae running to where the Mystic Pop-Up Bar usually is but it is not there. In the next scene, Weol-ju is telling Yeomradarwang that her actions were unwarranted but she wants to be off the hook for a “few bumps”. Yeomradarwang tells Weol-ju that it won’t count to her 100,000 souls and her and Guibanjang have to do 120 hours of community service in the afterlife — the bar will be confiscated until they are done. Weol-just raises that she doesn’t have much time left for her deadline.

Community service

Weol-ju and Guibanjang work for a reincarnation committee giving grades to souls that will return in a different life. They take the souls to the shower of oblivion where they will lose their memories of their previous life. Guibanjang tells Weol-ju that he misses Han Kang Bae. Mystic Pop-Up Bar episode 7 sees the crew broken up momentarily but it’s good splitting the story slightly.

Reincarnation records

Weol-ju checks out the reincarnation records of the Joseon Royal family; she reminisces over the prince. Guibanjang calls for her so she quickly puts the record book away.

Feeling down

Meanwhile, Han Kang Bae is downbeat at work. Kang Yeo-rin asks him why he missed dance practice. She seems bothered that he forgot that she ghosted him — her friend accuses Han Kang Bae of being a player and tells her to kiss him before she falls hard. Han Kang Bae reminisces over his time with Weol-ju and Guibanjang. He likes the Afterlife life.

A deal

Yeomradaewang offers Weol-ju and Guibanjang treats but Weol-ju smells a bribe. Yeomradaewang needs a favor — a flashback shows her walking to Avici, Hell of Oil Cauldrons; she’s been told off for not catching an evil spirit yet with a threat of stripping her rank. She accidentally texts The Emperor calling him a bastard and then her phone dies. She finds power but unplugs the Shower of Oblivion. A spirit returns to the Living Realm without his memories erased. Yeomradaewang wants them to retrieve the spirit. Weol-ju states she wants something in return or she will tell the Emperor.

Yeomradaewang offers to reopen her Mystic Pop-Up Bar, end the community service, count this mission against her 100,000 number and extend the deadline to reach the target by 10 days if Weol-ju manages to capture the loose spirit.

Finding Jang Bok-su

The subject of their mission is Jang Bok-su — a gambling addict who got an incarnation grade of C after borrowing a lot of money, putting many people at financial risk; after being betrayed by a friend, he was accidentally run over — he will be reborn as a chicken. Jang Bok-su finds a way to reincarnate inside an old man’s body. The man is a chairman of the mart company Han Kang Bae works for.

Welcome back

Weol-ju and Guibanjang return to the living realm and Han Kang Bae is ecstatic to see them. Guibanjang talks to the chickens after Han Kang Bae touches one of them and learns Jang Bok-su went inside the chairman’s body. Mystic Pop-Up Bar episode 7 continues to be quirky and strange at times and this was certainly a strange scene.

They need to stop him

The chairman proceeds to pay men to trash the store of his old friend who betrayed him. Weol-ju states they must stop Jang Bok-su before it gets out of hand. Han Kang Bae plans to win the dance competition so he can have a chance to have a drink with the chairman. Kang Yeo-rin wonders why Han Kang Bae is practicing dancing so much all of a sudden. As they train, Yeo-rin considers kissing him. Meanwhile, Weol-ju and Guibanjang hijack the other dancers to increase the chances of Han Kang Bae and Kang Yeo-rin winning.

The dance

Kang Yeo-rin is starting to doubt if they can win but Han Kang Bae gives her some encouragement. They dance their feet off. Han Kang Bae and Kang Yeo-rin win the competition. The chairman joins the stage and Han Kang Bae asks him if he’d like a drink to celebrate.

Dreamworld

They have dinner with the chairman and they pour him the magic drink. They enter his dream world. Jang Bok-su keeps picking up money but then he sees his friend upset that his finances are not in a good place because of Jang Bok-su and his mother needs surgery. Weol-ju asks Jang Bok-su if he still thinks that life is a jackpot and he states that he wants to help his friend. Weol-ju tells him the money isn’t his, it’s the chairman’s — she tells him to go back to Hell, replenish his sins and get an incarceration grade B.

Afterward, with the mission over, Han Kang Bae thanks Kang Yeo-rin saying he enjoyed spending time with her and she kisses him.

How does Mystic Pop-Up Bar episode 7 end?

Weol-ju is now at 99,996. Guibanjang states they have 4 more grudges to do and then Mystic Pop-Up Bar disappears. Han Kang Bae asks if once they’ve done can they stay but Weol-ju states that’s not how it works. Han Kang Bae wants the pair to find out who he was in a previous life when they return to the Afterlife. Guibanjang states that’s against the rules. Death picks up his assistant’s sword and states Kim Won-Hyung must have been in so much pain and anger these past 500 years. It’s revealed that the evil spirit has taken over Yeombujang’s body. Mystic Pop-Up Bar episode 7 follows the same kind of format while opening up the bureaucracy of Hell.

Additional points
  • Death is alerted to the evil spirit Kim Won-hyung who died on November 30, 1520. The one who has been following Weol-ju. Death’s assistant fights him on the rooftop. He’s incredibly strong and sucks the life force out of him.
