How does Love, Victor season 1, episode 3, “Battle of the Bands” open?
Episode 3 begins with Victor messaging Simon and discusses his research regarding the sexuality spectrum, stating he feels really connected with Mia so he’s going to give her a chance. In the next scene, Victor catches Mia welding a sculpture and she reveals her passion for art. Victor asks Mia out on a date.
Andrew is bothered
Lake bumps into Andrew at the vets and he asks her if she finds it weird seeing her mother on TV (she’s a news anchor). Lake asks Andrew if she’s off to the Battle of the Bands — she was going to go with Mia but her friend is off with Victor. Andrew wonders what Mia sees about Victor — he seems very bothered about it and asks Lake if she’s interested in a double date. Love, Victor season 1, episode 3, “Battle of the Bands” puts a love triangle into the mix.
“Call Me Maybe”
At the coffee shop while cleaning down, Victor states he has a dance to “Call Me Maybe” and the two end up dancing goofily. Mia then texts Victor and Benji asks if they are an item. Benji then reveals he is part of one of the bands and invites both him and Mia backstage after the performance. Victor messages Simon saying he cannot focus on Mia if Benji is there, so he tells Benji he cannot join him backstage afterward.

Victor takes Mia to an art exhibit. Meanwhile, at the Battle of the Bands, Felix notices Lake walk in and tells her she looks nice but she’s too distracted by Andrew. Lake tells Andrew that Victor & Mia have bailed and he is evidently bothered that it is no longer a double date. Lake asks Andrew if he’s in love with Mia and wonders if he is using her to get close to her. She gets angry and tells Andrew “I’m awesome too and I’m tired of waiting for someone to realize that”. Love, Victor season 1, episode 3, “Battle of the Bands” sees Andrew’s game figured out.
How does Love, Victor season 1, episode 3, “Battle of the Bands” end?
Mia tells Victor that this is the first date she’s ever been on. The pair kiss and he tells Simon that he “even got butterflies”. Andrew apologizes to Lake and tells her she is awesome and a guy will be lucky to have her one day. Felix then approaches Lake and they agree that they both like DJs. Felix and Mia turn up to the Battle of the Bands and the winner is Benji. Victor is mesmerized by Benji’s performance and has an out-of-body experience. Simon messages Victor saying it’s more than just butterflies and at that moment, he sees Benji kissing another man and he’s clearly winded by it. Episode 3 sees Victor battling with his feelings as he’s torn between Mia and Benji.

- Pilar is making her mother a Facebook profile so she can keep connected with everyone back in Texas — while setting up her mother’s profile, a man named Roger messages saying he misses her.
- Victor’s parents go out for a date at a sushi place and it goes well. When the father suggests doing ramen next, the mother slips up claiming she’s gone for ramen before but not with him, which ruins the date.
