How does Love, Victor season 1, episode 9, “Who the Hell is B?” open?
Episode 9 opens up with Victor reminiscing over his time in New York and the overwhelming supplier he received. He meets up with Felix and tells him that he likes guys and that he cannot be with Mia. Felix gives him a big supportive hug, representing how much of a great friend he is and expresses how happy he is that he told him. Victor says it feels amazing getting it off his chest but it will be difficult telling the others — “I kind of kissed Benji”. Love, Victor season 1, episode 9, “Who the Hell is B?” seems to be a “coming out” chapter.
Come to the dance
At school, Victor approaches Mia and apologizes for being missing in action and wants to hang out with her after school. Meanwhile, Felix wants to go to the dance with Lake. She’s not too enthusiastic about the dance but invites him to her place. Meanwhile, Benji tells Victor that he will be transferring stores due to their kiss and that it has put him in a tough spot with Derek. Felix goes to Lake’s house and he has to hide under the bed as her mother came home early.
It’s going to be tough
Simon tells Victor that telling Mia is going to be really hard but it’s time to rip off the gay band-aid and that with Benji, he suggests writing a letter for Benji so he understands where he is coming from. While under the bed, Felix hears Lake’s mother being extremely harsh about her chances due to how she dresses and tells Lake that she needs to achieve a “curvy but not fat” look. Felix comforts her and wants to take her somewhere.
Meeting the father
As Victor was about to tell Mia the truth, Mia’s father walks through the door with Veronica. Suddenly, Mia senses that Veronica is pregnant because she doesn’t want to eat the sushi — her father explains it was unplanned. Veronica and Mia’s father also reveal they are getting married as well — Mia walks off in anger. Victor cannot tell Mia now while that news is raw.
Taking a stand
Felix shows Lake his extremely untidy apartment; he states the apartment used to be normal, a fun place to live — his mother used to buy him all this stuff to cover up the depression and kept everything she buys, which is why the apartment is cluttered — “I saw your life and I wanted you to see mine. This not a reflection of who I am. You’re the best version of yourself”. Afterward, Felix asks Lake to go to the dance with her but she cares too much about what people think. Felix tells her it is over as he can’t do this anymore with the secret hookups.
How does Love, Victor season 1, episode 9, “Who the Hell is B?” end?
Victor reassures Mia and comforts her — she kisses him and asks, “What would I do without you?” making the situation more awkward. Meanwhile, Victor’s father Armando tells Isabel that he doesn’t want her to do the piano lessons. Isabel takes a stand and tells Armando that if he didn’t beat up Roger, they wouldn’t have had to move. Victor walks in and tells his parents that they need to do better, “for all of us”.
As the episode ends, Pilar goes into Victor’s room for money and finds the letter for Benji and says “Who the hell is B?”.
