With it being the third and final season, it’s that time again where we have to say goodbye to those who have fallen in an important Netflix series. There are a lot of emotional moments in the final chapters. So who dies in The Rain season 3?

Sten

Let’s be honest; Sten was an interesting character — in many ways, he was absorbing as he fronted Apollon as some kind of savior of the world. But his time came to an end in season 3 when he gets a little too desperate. When he and Rasmus find a way to spread the virus in other people and hail it is as a “cure”, he underestimates Rasmus’s desire to be in control of the operation. Rasmus takes it in his own hands and pretends to want to help Sten. Before Sten empties his immune system, Rasmus uses his virus to kill him instantly and takes control of Apollon.

Olivia

Not the most important character in The Rain season 3 but she is one of the hosts of the virus passed on by Rasmus. Unfortunately, she dies after Rasmus’s interaction with the flower.

Martin

Now this one hurt because you are feeling everything from the perspective of Simone who saw Martin as the love of her life. Martin’s days were always numbered as soon as he assumed Simone was dead so recklessly allowed Rasmus to give him the virus. Underestimating its power and how he cannot control it, he nearly kills Simone by infecting her. To stop the virus from killing her, he uses the flower extract on him — the virus leaves his body but it leaves Martin dead. This was a devastating moment in the story as Simone struggles to cope with the loss.

Sarah

Sarah. Bless. Her. Soul. Such a sweetheart — she only wanted to love Rasmus, so much so, her allegiance with him is the reason why she dies. Sarah joins Rasmus as he approaches the flower to save the world. It’s a fitting and upsetting ending; she either wanted the world with Rasmus or not at all and she made a choice.

Rasmus

The most significant death of the series goes to the one, and only, the teenage heartthrob, Rasmus. Fans probably knew his fate was likely to be death but it doesn’t make it any less sad. His whole persona was always about saving the world but he did lose his inner being in season 3. In the end, Rasmus understood what he needed to do to save the world. Rather than kill his sister, he decides to embrace the flower with Sarah to rid the virus for good. By doing that, it became a sacrifice as he and Sarah died together in each other’s arms.
