The opening

“Soldiers of Love” opens with Polly walking around the holiday park with her headphones in and taking photos. She reads a newspaper report about two undercover cops taking down a drug kingpin. Polly is looking for the same chalet in the photos. She asks questions at a bar about the case, but the barmaid doesn’t entertain it — Danielle Bouman is nearby drinking coffee. Polly is researching for family matters, but she does not feel the danger she’s putting herself and her father in.

Bob is removed from the case

Sharon (real name is Lisa from here on in) tells Bob about Patrick’s concern about his objectivity, and she thinks he is right and wants to do it without him. Bob has been taken off the case, and he is frustrated. Afterward, Bob finds Laurent and punches him in the face for fighting him at the ranch. Patrick threatens to suspend Bob after he attacked Laurent. “Soldiers of Love” shows Bob only wanting to do this mission for Kim. Lisa and Patrick make a good point — Bob is not objective; he’s emotionally involved.

A new character

Undercover season 2, episode 3 introduces the audience to Akwane Gassama from South Sudan — Vinne welcomes him to Belgium. At the ranch, Lisa apologizes for Bob’s behavior and doesn’t want a rift at her workplace. Akwane arrives at the ranch to meet the Bergers and Lisa looks on. JP tells Akwane they can get weapons to them, but they need aircraft — he claims he can get the weapons to him in under a week. Akwane’s right-hand man raises how the Bergers supplied weapons to their enemy. JP Berger explains that they don’t do politics, ethics, or religion — they just do business. The right-hand man puts a gun to JP’s head, but he remains cool.

Someone recognized Lisa

Lisa rings Bob and tells him she is compromised as someone recognized her at the saloon. Bob tells her to keep calm. Bob rings Laurent and tells him that the cops are watching him because they have questioned him in the middle of the night — he also tells him that Lisa is fake and is a cop. Laurent alerts JP and tells him to get the Africans out of here. Bob is desperate in Season 2; he’s lost all control of his emotions, putting his own colleagues at risk — it’s interesting to see how this will play out for the rest of the season.

Bob puts Lisa in a dangerous position

Laurent asks Nathalie about Lisa and how she knows her. Nathalie raises how someone called her Lisa earlier. Laurent confronts Lisa and tells her to pack and leave. When Lisa acts like she knows anything, he grabs her by the face and calls her Lisa. She quickly departs, and JP Berger watches her drive off.

Polly digs deeper

Polly learns where Ferry’s chalet used to be. A resident shows her a photo of the agents, Bob and Kim: “A loving married couple”. Danielle catches Polly taking photos and tells her to delete them. Danielle grabs the camera and looks at the photos and sees Bob. She demands that they are deleted and takes the memory card. Season 2 keeps Danielle as an important character. There’s this feeling that we need to feel sorry for her after the events of last season.

Bob is back in

Bob tells Patrick and the others that he’s back in with the Bergers after taking Lisa out. Lisa is furious with Bob after what he did. Patrick gives Bob a week to find a breakthrough. Nick tells Bob that he’s starting to lose it. It’s difficult to disagree with Nick.

Nathalie’s phonecall

Nathalie rings Lisa; she tells her to stop fooling around and asks if it is safe for her and her son. She reveals that two years ago she needed help so turned to Laurent; Nathalie knows JP is involved in the illegal arms trade and wonders if Laurent is as well. Lisa pretends she knows nothing and puts the phone down. Lisa rings Bob and tells him about the phone call. Bob explains he’s doing all this for Kim and apologizes for his actions. Lisa wishes him luck.

A pause on sales

JP speaks to Laurent about Lisa and Bob. He wonders if Bob is also a cop, but Laurent claims they cannot trust anyone. Laurent tells JP that Lisa saw the men from South Sudan. JP Berger claims they need to pause on arms deals to protect everyone. JP rings Akwane and tells him that the cargo deal is off. Akwane tells him he will regret it and when he puts the phone down, Bergers’ men kill the Africans before getting on the plane. “Soldiers of Love” shows the ruthlessness of JP Berger — he does not take any shortcuts whatsoever.

The ending

Danielle visits Ferry in prison. Ferry is delighted to see her. Danielle tells Ferry that she has a memory card of photos, and some images are of Bob — she wants him to find Bob and gives him the card. Danielle also tells Ferry to leave her alone for good and walks out.

Nick and Bob speak to Nathalie and reveals he is the police; they want to talk to her about the Berger brothers.
