Quahog, like most places these days, is going downhill. And, according to Lois, it needs some leadership, so she calls a meeting of potential mayors. Of the group, the librarian seems the best fit, which is not exactly the former Batman that Peter was hoping for. But Adam West’s lineage lives on in his cousin, Wild West, a spokesman for everything manly, so Peter heads out to track him down at his ranch.

Wild Wild West has the face and voice of Sam Elliott, which only seems right for a man who advertises beef cigarettes. He’s also reluctant, at least for now, so Elle Hitler, Lois’s choice, begins her mayoral campaign. But Wild West arrives in the nick of time on horseback, with a hat under the hat he’s throwing in the ring and continuing claims of being able to levitate. Surely there’s no better candidate?

A gender debate begins to develop here. Lois thinks more women should be in positions of power and she’s determined to facilitate that, while Peter reckons men have always been in charge and there haven’t been any problems thus far (apart from a very long list of exceptions he reels off.) To prove his point, Peter takes Lois to meet Wild West at the ranch, and while they chat he makes her a sweater by hand out of fresh wool — naturally, she falls in love with him.

After Lois brings Wild West into the bedroom, Peter turns against his own candidate and endorses Elle Hitler instead. They bring in Morgan Freeman to record her adverts so voice can compete with voice, but rather than allowing Hitler to speak for herself on the issues closest to the townsfolk, he instead decides to sabotage West’s campaign, which includes trying to cut his handsome mustache of (needless to say, it doesn’t work.)

When Peter’s efforts at sabotage backfire, it’s Wild West who has to intervene and save Hitler from a fiery inferno — by levitating! He’s voted mayor by majority vote in a tiny turnout and leads everyone in a song. As the episode itself puts things, nobody really cares. But it’s nice to see Sam Elliott’s mustache and voice still have power.
