Summary
Episode 7 brings back the shock factor; plenty of action, dramas, twist, and turns — this series knows how to hook the audience in.
This recap of Amazon original Invincible season 1, episode 7, “WE NEED TO TALK,” contains spoilers.
After her argument with her husband in the last episode, Debbie wakes up and feels the tension with her husband. Meanwhile, Mark is trying to talk to Amber, but she’s still mad at him for going missing during the attack at the university. He wasn’t really missing; he was disguised as Invincible. Episode 7 opens up with deep-rooted relationship problems.
Debbie kicks Nolan out of the house
With the husband and wife face-off continuing, Debbie asks Nolan for the truth; Nolan asks her to trust him, but she doesn’t know how she can. She doesn’t feel like she knows him anymore. Nolan claims he had no choice in killing the Guardians of the Globe but does not explain why. Debbie asks Nolan to get out of their home. She then rings Mark and asks him to come home, but then the organization behind Guardians of the Globe picks Debbie up, stating, “there’s no time”.
Episode 7 is really not messing about!
Amber knew weeks ago about Mark’s secrets
Mark reveals to Amber why he keeps messing up — he shows her that he’s Invincible. Amber already knew and stated the problem is that he kept lying to her. She kicks him out of his house. I found this unreasonable — it’s hardly the easiest thing to bring up that you are a superhero!
Mark feels sorry for himself, but his friend tells him to pick himself up. Mark feels like he needs someone better to talk to.
Robot’s plans
Invincible season 1, episode 7 then reveals Robot true fans — he’s weirder than we thought. Robot reveals his plans to the Mauler Twins. The lifeform they’ve been growing is Robot’s new body.
Robot transfers into the life form, and the Mauler Twins begin the experiment to replicate his consciousness. However, it doesn’t go well at first as there are teething issues. The transference is ugly, and it sets the lab on fire; however, Robot is now in a human body, but the other life form that was used dies.
Human-Robot tells the Mauler Twins that it’s time for them to go back to prison. Two Robots appear and fight the twins. He also reveals a larger Robot that he’s created.
Mark versus Nolan?
Cecil Stedman tells Debbie that he knew Nolan killed the Guardians. He wants to know how to stop him and believes Mark is the only one who can go toe-to-toe with him. When Nolan returns home, he sees he has been spied on. He approaches Donald (Cecil’s assistant) and tries to kill him; however, Donald uses the self-destruct button to cause an explosion and essentially kills himself. Cecil tells Debbie that the explosion will not have hurt Nolan.
Nolan looks for Mark
With family problems ongoing, Mark decides to meet Eve to confide with her. Meanwhile, Omni-Man approaches Mark’s friend William and asks where his son is. William reveals he’s with Eve. Invincible tells Eve that he’s been dumped by Amber. They both realize there’s a threat — Eve wants to help, but Mark isn’t interested.
As Nolan heads towards to find his son, Cecil orders an attack using satellite technology; however, it doesn’t work. Nolan destroys the satellite.
Invincible season 1, episode 7 brings the action, the drama, and countless possibilities about how all this will play out.
Human-Robot reveals himself
Robot reveals his human form to the new Guardians of the Globe. Rex wonders why Robot looks like him as a kid version. It’s obvious that Robot made himself look like a kid version of Rex for Monster Girl, and she’s touched by it — they have been prisoners in their own bodies. Robot vows to help Monster Girl to escape hers. He also reveals that Monster Girl took an interest in Rex. The Guardians of the Globe thinks it’s bizarre what Robot did. They haven’t got time to deliberate it as they see Nolan is now a threat.
Cecil versus Omni-Man
And the fight against Omni-Man continues, but he’s a difficult person to bring down.
Cecil shoots Nolan himself to get his attention. He asks him why he killed the Guardians of the Globe. Nolan tells him that they were weak, but Cecil isn’t buying that story. Cecil then brings up Nolan’s family before teleporting back to base. He sets dead soldiers on Nolan to fight him to buy them more time.
Cecil throws in a monster to fight Nolan. He tells the new Guardians of the Globe that they are the last hope against Omni-Man if things go wrong. Meanwhile, Invincible joins Eve to help out and realizes his father is in trouble, so he helps him out.
The ending
Debbie rings Eve and tells her she needs to speak to Mark, but Cecil tells Eve not to help them and return to HQ. Mark is in trouble with the monster — Cecil tells Debbie that he cannot call it off as he’s not sure if Mark is on their side or his father’s. This guy clearly does not give a fuck.
The Mauler Twins bring Immortal back to life, and he heads straight towards Omni-Man. Immortal was one of the casualties when Omni-Man killed the entire Guardians of the Globe at the end of the thrilling first episode. Immortal is angry and fights Omni-Man. However, he loses as Omni-Man kills him. News broadcasts see it all over the world. There’s an absolute shock.
Mark sees what his father has done, and he’s in shock. Nolan tells Mark, “WE NEED TO TALK.” The episode ends with the credits, and there’s total silence — you can only hear the wind blowing after a hectic fight.
