You Season 3, episode 2 recap
Episode 2 begins with Joe and Love in therapy. Let’s be honest; it’s much needed. Especially after Love killed Natalie and Joe was left to dispose of the body. Meanwhile, after learning that Love plans to open a bakery, her mother Dottie voices her concerns; apparently, the family’s finances are already in flux.
Love tells the counsellor, Chandra (Ayelet Zurer), that after she met a flirty younger male, Theo (Dylan Arnold), she felt guilty because the encounter felt so good. Back home, Joe and Love attempt to use Chandra’s advice. However, it doesn’t exactly work for the pair.
Joe and Love attend a local rich kid’s party, where Love’s cupcakes are rejected by Sherry, and therefore her “crew”. But when the children eat the muffins, Sherry causes a scene as “raspberries contain sugar”. Feeling calmer about the sugar incident is Cary. He informs Joe that everyone in Madre Linda wears a ring that keeps track of sugar levels, GPS etc. The problem for Joe? Natalie was wearing one when Love murdered her.
To cover their tracks, Joe and Love dig up Natalie and remove the ring before Joe sets about moving the body elsewhere. Unsurprisingly, the incident sends them both back to couples therapy. But more surprisingly, it causes Joe and Love to have the best sex of their relationship before claiming they would kill for each other (and Henry).
Next, they make a box underneath the bakery. Yet, despite the strength of the marriage, Love hides a spare key. Whilst their marriage seems to be on the right path, Love still doesn’t seem to fully trust Joe.
The ending
After Joe returns to the library, he asks Marieanne (Tati Gabrielle) for a job. Meanwhile, as Love prepares the bakery, she gets blanked by Sherry. To gain an understanding of what Natalie’s husband Matthew (Scott Speedman) may be thinking, Love pops round with cupcakes. But as it turns out, Theo answers the door. He is Matthew’s stepson.
“So I Married an Axe Murderer” ends with the axe murderer (Love) watching as the police call round to Matthew/Natalie’s house. With “shit about to hit the fan”, Joe and Love grip hands.
