Locke & Key season 2, episode 1 recap
Kinsey (Emilia Jones) uses the Head Key before Tyler (Connor Jessup) appears and asks to swap in exchange for the Mending Key. Elsewhere in the Keyhouse, Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) lifts a sofa up through new strength provided by the Hercules key. His mother, Nina (Darby Stanchfield), hears the noise and inspects. But she soon forgets what she saw due to her being an adult, and as you may recall from Season 1, adults never remember the magic they witness.
Whilst Kinsey still dates Gabe (Griffin Gluck), unaware that he is, in fact, Dodge, Tyler and Jackie use the magic of the keys to prepare for her upcoming 18th birthday party. Just before Duncan (Aaron Ashmore) reveals he is getting married, we learn that Ellie is still missing. Even more concerning is how with no fresh leads, Ellie’s disappearance may become a cold case.
As the Lockes have family dinner, Gabe hands over an Identity Key to Eden (Hallea Jones). She tries to use it to transform into Kinsey, but Gabe explains that an Identity Key can only work if the person isn’t real. During a movie premiere, Scot (Petrice Jones) bumps into Kinsey and Gabe, whilst he appears to be dating Abby (Leishe Meyboom). Despite Kinsey dating Gabe, she appears quite jealous. As the movie airs, the majority of characters are coupled up, whether that is romantically or socially. Eden, on the other hand, is alone.
Whilst everyone watches the movie, Eden kisses a member of staff at the cinema. That is before she decides to rip his face off. Eden is nearly caught by Nina, but with help from Gabe, she gets rid of the body. At the after-party, Scot reveals to Kinsey that as Abby is a lesbian, he is far from dating her. But Scot has bigger news; he has applied for a film college in England. As he is one of two final applicants, there’s a high chance that he’ll be leaving in a few weeks.
The ending
Possibly to distract herself, Kinsey uses the Head Key on herself. But, she has one problem; she can’t stop thinking about Scot. Tyler comes to the sad realization that as Jackie is about to turn 18, her memories of magic are beginning to fade. Which, as Tyler turns 18 in 3 months, will happen to him. “The Premiere” concludes with Gabe and Eden making a new key.
