Locke & Key season 2, episode 2 recap
A helpless Eden stands on the docks, and so a fisherman comes to her aid. Which is likely an action he’ll regret, as soon after, Gabe attacks him with a key. The result? The fisherman turns into a puddle of black liquid. Eden was mean in Season 1, but now?! She’s the queen of mean. Gabe states that for the key to be made correctly, he and Eden must go straight to the source, i.e. the Lockes.
In school, Bode tells his teacher and classmates about his eventful summer. But as expected, no one believes any of what he claims to be true. One classmate, Jamie, however, enjoys his tales. As her mother died, she bonds with Bode over the pain of losing his Dad.
After Jackie refuses to complete an assignment, Scot tells the gang that he may be heading for film school in England. Kinsey wants to use the Head Key in Gabe. Clearly, he can’t allow this to happen, and as a result, it causes an argument, and Kinsey kicks Gabe out. Once Tyler learns that Jackie is researching memory loss, he films a recording of them together, where they discuss the times that they have used magic.
There’s further depth to Scot’s past when he reveals to Kinsey that his family want him to be a barrister, not a film writer. The moment of bonding is over when Gabe spots them and grows threatened by their chemistry. Although, Kinsey brushes Gabe off. But when Gabe dismisses Eden’s suggestion to kill Kinsey, it adds to the possibility that Gabe has feelings for Kinsey.
As Tyler fears over his future, Kinsey visits Erin in the hospital and speculates whether there’s a way for adults to remember the magic. When Gabe tricks Bode into handing him the Ghost Key, he visits the ghost of Chamberlin Locke. With Chamberlin Locke apparently unaware of who Gabe is, he advises that to make the desired key the use of freshly cut blood is required.
The ending
Tyler and Kinsey use the Head Key on Eron, but for some reason, no second version of Erin appears. Looking for answers, they search her mind, learning that she hasn’t moved on from their Dad, Rendell. As books begin to fly around, a younger version of Erin appears. She holds a knife and begs for Dodge to go away. After they convince Erin of who they are, Tyler and Kinsey realise Erin has gotten trapped in her own mind. But not anymore! “The Head and the Heart” concludes with Young Erin leaving with Tyler and Kinsey, just as Erin wakes up in the hospital.
