Summary

True Story Season 1 Episode 6 Recap
After Carlton set Gene up in the previous episode, Savvas and Niko violently beat up Gene. When Gene states that the watch was a gift, the brothers question whether Gene or Carlton is lying. But after overhearing the brothers threatening to kill Kid, Gene “confesses” to killing Ari. And so, they beat Gene to death. It’s a tragic end for Gene but one that stayed true to his obsessive love for Kid.
After Carlton sees Gene’s body, he steals a phone and chucks it into a river. Meanwhile, Kid argues with Monyca after her newest boyfriend made a bad joke about him in front of Christian (Caleb Elijah). But Monyca defends him and tells Kid never to disrespect her again or question her parenting. Whilst in his hotel room detectives visit Kid, they inform him that Gene is dead. He tells Carlton, who puts the phone down on someone after telling them “they’d get their money”. Is Carlton in even more debt? And if so, who to?
The ending
Kid goes to the station, but luckily for him, he isn’t even considered as a suspect in Gene’s murder. Before he leaves, he signs something for the station. As for Savvas and Nikos, Carlton believes that they’re good now as Gene took the rap for Ari’s murder. And then, Kid and Carlton toast Gene for giving Kid the second chance he deserved, according to Kid anyways.
What follows is probably True Story’s biggest twist so far. After Kid takes Carlton home drunk, Carlton passes out and his phone falls out. When Kid reads a text, it appears that Carlton owes even more money. Upon going through Carlton’s phone, he finds several messages for someone called “Simone”. When Kid reads through them, he comes to realize that Simone is Daphne, who appears to be alive.
