Well, if you thought episode 6 was thrilling, episode 7 manages to find another gear, mostly centering on The Professor and Sierra as they navigate their complex and ying-yang relationship.

Money Heist season 5, episode 7 recap

Episode 7 begins with Tamayo’s assault unit still trying to find Sierra and The Professor. Tamayo orders his men to check every exit and apartment. The Professor and Sierra have a woman under hostage in an apartment while the baby cries (this is a huge problem). The Professor and Sierra fashion an escape route at the side of the apartment building. Using disguises, they manage to get past many police units, but they have to hide again as more forces arrive. Meanwhile, Marseille returns to the hideout and believes The Professor has been kidnapped by Sierra again.

Ironically, Sierra and The Professor make a formidable team as they continue to find ways to evade and hide from the police. They are essentially part of a siege, with the army involved. With authorities narrowing in, The Professor and Sierra have to hide within the confines of a sofa. But then, the baby cries, so Sierra takes out a nipple to feed her newborn baby girl. The authorities think it was a cat crying. That was incredibly tense.

We are treated to another Berlin flashback as he and The Professor dance and drink wine. Berlin talks about turning all the gold into rice and then using the pump. He explains how he went to Norway to get one. The Professor is skeptical, believing the whole plan has too many margins for error. The two men argue about it, but The Professor calls the plans “wishful thinking.”. Berlin gets Palmero to explain the procedures and how they will use the Stormwater tank and the drainage system for the gold.

In the present day, Lisbon tells the team that The Professor has disappeared and wonders what they should do with the gold. Palmero says they need to get the gold out as the police do not know the tank. Lisbon knows that only two people out there know of their plan with the gold — Sierra and The Professor, and neither of them will speak about it. The heist team gets going with the plans to pump the gold through the drainage system.

And it works! Benjamin confirms that the gold is coming through to the drainage system on their end (at the hideout) after a few moments of doubt with the calculations. Palmero prayed that it would work, remembering his time with Berlin. There are celebrations all around. Half the heist is done; Benjamin and his men turn the grains of gold back into bricks.

With The Professor and Sierra out of danger (for now), there’s a stillness between them for the first time since volume two began. The Professor makes sure that Sierra eats, and she states the last time someone looked after her was her husband, and she couldn’t shed a tear at his funeral. She admits that she believed if she chased after The Professor and the heist team fast enough, it would stop the sadness. She wants to pretend they are friends as she thinks this may be the last normal thing they will have. The Professor opens up about how he’s lost two very important people — he promises that he will not let her go down. She promises not to arrest him.

Is this the moment that Sierra joins The Professor and his crew? Sierra snuggles on The Professor’s arms. Two enemies, now friends. What a turnaround.

As the surgeries are performed, one of Sagasta’s squad members is making their way through the vents, but she is also bleeding, so she’s doing her secret mission while in pain.

The ending

As episode 7 ends, we see one of the most creative and wild escapes in Money Heist history.

Sierra wakes up in the middle of the night to see that The Professor has found an old phone. He rings Benjamin and tells him that they are running out of time and to ring the Serbians. A garbage truck arrives at the hideout, and the team amends it with tools. The Professor and Sierra hide in the bins outside the apartment, and the garbage truck picks them up. They have successfully escaped under the eyes of the authorities.

The Professor returns to his hideout, and he cannot believe what he can see – gold, lots of it. Even Sierra smiles, which turns into a laugh. It’s an emotional time. This heist is something else.
