I think the problem with this series is that it’s trying to reach whatever twist will arrive in the finale, but it’s not sure how to get there. It’s interesting but fractured.
Aranyak season 1, episode 5 recap
Angad and Kasturi look at phone logs with Sundar at the time of Aimee’s disappearance — there’s an unknown caller that could be vital to the case. They suspect there’s an insider in the police station, but their superior tells them both they are looking into coincidences too much, and they need to focus on the case. That’s suspicious in itself that a superior would say that.
Julie visits Angad’s place — she asks if he’s going to Ravi’s wedding. She tells him she wants revenge for Aimee’s death. Before the wedding, Kasturi’s husband Hari wonders why he cannot go to the wedding at Manhas’s house. Kasturi tells him it’s a professional obligation, and she’s going with Angad. Her husband grabs her from behind, but she out strengthens him. As Angad and Kasturi leave, Hari watches from the window. Angad explains her husband is upset as he likes to go to weddings. She admits they are having marital problems. Angad reveals he is divorced.
The ending
They attend the wedding of Ravi and Nilima. Manhas congratulates them for catching the killer. The photographer that recorded Ravi visiting Julie ask Angad and Kasturi if they would like some vital information and, in return, get to interview Bunty.
Angad is suddenly irritated; he tells Kasturi that Omi, who took Maroot (remember episode 1?) away, is at the wedding. And that he saw him. He turns off the wedding music to try and find him.
Episode 5 is underwhelming apart from the ending.
