The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window episode 7 recap

Anna gets questioned by Detective Lane, who adds that Carol has told the police how Anna “threatened” her (in episode 2) whilst waving a palette knife in her hand. During the questioning, Anna recalls a time when she was a broke artist. She reveals that after she painted her dog as Mona Lisa, it became a winning formula. Although, after she became burnt out, she got pregnant with Elizabeth. And whilst she started to paint again, thanks to some help from Douglas and Buell, she completely stopped after Elizabeth died.

Detective Lane replays Anna’s phone call to the police when she called to say that Lisa had been murdered, which doesn’t help matters for Anna. After Anna’s fingerprints are proven to be a match, she gets arrested for Lisa’s murder. In her cell, Anna continues to have further flashbacks that suggest she did, in fact, kill Lisa. Not only that, but she envisions killing Douglas’s bride to be at their wedding. Maybe Anna is a little insane?

Sloane bails Anna out (for $500,000), although she does ask if Anna is guilty. When Anna is home, Neil shows Anna his gun and threatens to use it if she comes anywhere near him or Emma again. Later that night, after she hears more noises from upstairs, she goes into the attic and finds blood pouring out. In a panic, she calls her therapist. Unbeknown to her, Douglas is her therapist. He talks Anna into heading into the attic, where she learns that it isn’t blood pouring out, just red paint. Anna also comes to learn that her flashbacks detail her destroying a painting of Lisa, not actually killing her.

The ending

Upon inspecting the state of the attic, Anna realizes that Buell has been living upstairs. Not only does it explain the weird noises, but could suggest that Buell is the killer. Douglas reveals that as one of his former patients, Buell had killed his entire family. Certain that Buell killed Lisa, Anna spots him just as he starts to creep towards Neil and Emma’s house.

Although it was revealed in episode 1 that there was someone in Anna’s attic, it’s only in episode 7 that we learn that it was Buell living there. And now, as it seems that he was the one who killed Lisa, could Neil and Emma be in danger? With just one more episode to go, it’s clear that it’s going to be a big one! Will Anna manage to save Neil and Emma?
