There’s no surprise that Netflix continues to dominate the streaming subscription world. And as it has become more popular throughout the past ten years or so, so too have Netflix’s top-rated TV shows.

With so many different genres and shows available at the touch of the button, it can be difficult to decide what to watch. So, whether you’re new to Netflix or you’re a seasoned streamer, don’t spend all night scrolling and looking for a series. Stranger Things

You can’t write an article on the best tv shows on Netflix and not include Stranger Things! This show is a sci-fi horror drama that follows the adventures of a group of pre-teen friends in the 1980s.

Together, they must unravel government secrets and fight forces from the mysterious Upside Down. This top-rated Netflix original has been called a cross between The Goonies and Stephen King’s It, and after a few episodes in, it’s easy to see why!

Arcane

This TV series is a spin-off of the popular video game, League of Legends, featuring several of the MOBA’s (multiplayer online battle arena) beloved characters.

Arcane is about two sisters, Vi and Jinx, who find themselves on opposing sides of a brewing war over clashing convictions and arcane technologies. And although it was only released on the streaming platform last year, it’s already been hailed as one of the best new shows on Netflix.

Sex Education

When you ask viewers what they think one of the top-rated TV shows on Netflix is, it’s likely you’ll get Sex Education as an answer. Set in a fictional British school, this binge-worthy comedy series follows the lives of students, staff and parents as they try to navigate the complicated world of sex, sexuality and everything in between.

Sex Education is a testament to the power of character development, plus, it stars Gillian Anderson as a sex therapist, what more could you want out of a coming-of-age drama?

Maid

Maid is a Netflix show based on the memoirs of Stephanie Land, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive. The series follows a single mother who’s trying to escape an abusive relationship. She has to try to make ends meet by taking up a job in housekeeping so she can provide a better life for her daughter. Maid is brilliant, moving and definitely a tear-jerker. Tissues at the ready for this one!

The Queen’s Gambit

This mini-series is another top-rated Netflix show that was responsible for chess sets selling out across the world. The Queen’s Gambit is based on a fiction book of the same name, and follows the tragic life of young chess prodigy, Beth Harmon, during the ’50s and ’60s. The show is only seven episodes long, making it one of the best binge-worthy shows on Netflix!

Mindhunter

Based on the book Mindhunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, this top-rated Netflix show follows the lives of two FBI agents as they interview serial killers in order to better understand their motives. The agents meet some of America’s most notorious criminals including Jeffrey Dahmer and Charles Manson. If you are into true crime then this top-rated Netflix drama show is definitely one to watch.

The Crown

Said to be one of, if not the most expensive shows Netflix has ever made, The Crown chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II from the 1940s to the present day. Although it is a drama series, many of the show’s storylines are based on true events, providing the audience with an insight into the life of the British royal family. There’s a stellar cast too, with performances from Hollywood actors such as Olivia Colman, Matt Smith, Helena Bonham Carter and Gillian Anderson.

Squid Game

Unless you were living under a rock last year, it’s likely that you’ve already heard about this top-rated Netflix show of 2021. Squid Game is a South Korean survival drama that follows a group of players taking part in life or death games for prize money. Red light…green light…
